During my 3D mammo they identified 2 areas in my right breast and possible one in the left that needed further review. I had an ultrasound a week later and the left breast appeared okay but they found two tumors in my right best. Had a breast biopsy of both which came back as grade 3 triple+++ IDC. I met with a MO who prescribed the TCH plus Herceptin and perjeta treatment. He also ordered an MRI to verify left breast was clear and ensure other else shows up on right breast. I was scheduled for a power port on Monday Aug 27, echo on Aug 28, BS on Aug 29, MRI and visit with chemo nurse on Aug 30 and my first infusion was Aug 31 today.
I was riding high and had an easy time with the infusion but got a call from my BS regarding the MRI as I was heading home. Good news was left breast and nodes clear BUT two additional spots in right breast above current tumors are suspicious. She said they are very small but suspicious for DCIS. The spots are in the same area but higher. She indicated that the only way to biopsy is to do a mri guided biopsy due to size. I'm just not sure what to do. She is saying they might not get a good sample and it would give is an all clear, it could get the right cells which identifies DCIS or it could be fibrous. Of fibrous lumpectomy is still a possibility, if DCIS could do lumpectomy but breast would need reconstruction I felt she was pushing me toward mastectomy, just wondering if any others have had similar circumstances and what course they took.
Thanks in advance for any insights.

I wasn't is same situation, but close. Had four or five spots in the same breast. I did BMX, mostly because I was relatively young (45) and I was concerned that there is enough time for new mutations to pop-up. Plus, I had a variance of unknown significance in one of a genes.

Datny- Thanks for your info, I’m thinking I move ahead with the MRI biopsy to get more info before I make a decision. I’m 62, so while I believe I have many years to enjoy as I have always been active, certainly now as many as you. I was thinking of lumpectomy, but of course results might change my mind. Thanks again. Take care and wish you continued health.
