Radiation rash
I’ve had 10 radiation treatments as of today. 10 to go. Of course this evening, I’ve developed a funky rash. It’s all over my breast that’s getting radiated. It’s going up my chest, below the breast, and under my arm. I do not remember my RO mentioning this being a SE, so I wanted to see before I flip out thinking something is wrong with me, if anyone else has experienced this? It doesn’t itch or hurt. I will also mention, I had to get my RO to prescribe me something for itching and burning of my nipple. It’s double in size. He gave me a steroid cream, but the only place I apply it is the nipple. It seems to help some but not enough. When I breath I have wheezing and behind my breast hurts. I could sleep 24/7. All of that started within the last day or so. I told my tech this morning about the pain behind my breast but she didn’t seem concerned.
Hope everyone is doing well and thank you for any input you might have. Can’t wait to have this behind me. Uggg!

I had a rash like that (but it itched horribly). Covered the entire treatment area. Turned out I was allergic to the one lotion (miaderm) they let me use. Had to get an emergency dermatologist appointment. Derm said stop the Miaderm and gave me a steroid shot. I finally had relief after that. Ironically the radiation oncology nurses kept telling me to put Miaderm on the rash because it would make it better. It's like that's all they knew to say.
Hope it gets better for you soon! Radiation is tough but it will eventually be a memory.

I’m on session 26/33 and even though I started prepping my skin two weeks before treatment started, I still got all the “bad” side effects of radiation on my skin. The worst is the area right below my collar bone. I’ve given up on creams and miracle treatments. Like gb2115 wrote the techs only know a few options - miaderm, aquaphor or calendula. I don’t know if my reaction would have been worse, although I can’t imagine how it could be, had I not “Pre-treated” my skin. So, I decided to try to stay dry as much as possible - my greatest discomfort now is the heat and sweat. I apply corn starch anywhere there might be skin on skin contact. I’m seeing a dermatologist this week. I also think one or all of the creams I’ve tried may have caused some kind of allergic reaction and I think it’s time for a more aggressive treatment.

Hope you feel better Zuliana!! The skin stuff is awful. I had never itched so much in my life and nothing helped (until about 24 hours after the steroid shot). I still use the experience as a litmus test of sorts...( having a bad day, I think to myself, at least it's not like that *@$&#@ radiation rash...!!!)
It does go away and get better though. Hopefully your derm can help!!

Thanks gb2115. I’ll post an update after visit to derm this week.
How are you doing with the Tamoxifen
