Unexplained weight loss

Options

I was diagnosed with stage 2 HER2+ breast cancer in July 2016. I had a bilateral mastectomy in Dec 2016. I feel pretty good, although I tire more easily then in the past. I'm concerned because I've lost 11 lbs in a year without trying. I mentioned it to my primary care doctor and she did not think it was a big deal, but I'm still nervous. Maybe I should call my oncologist, but I don't want to jump the gun. They run blood tests on me a couple times a year, and they seem to be good. Am I being paranoid? I have a trip to CostaRica planned for October and I do not want to ruin it. I feel like I'm always waiting for the shoe to drop:(

I don't know, but I have an appointment with my primary care doctor in the near future and I will ask.

I was going to say thyroid, as well. My SIL who was the same weight her whole life started losing weight and it was her thyroid. Not cancer, but she did have it taken out.

If you have been eating a healthier diet and execising more since your diagnoses, that might be the explanation of your weight loss whether you were officially "trying" or not. Long before I got my dx, I decided to lose weight. Since I was very overweight, I thought it best to keep the exercise to just walking 2 miles a day plus eating a mediterrain diet for the first thirty pounds. (I was afraid I might cause a heart attack if I started by going crazy in a gym.) I easily lost at least 1 to 2 lbs. a week when I stuck to it. So, unless you are skinny as a rail and were already eating healthily and exercising, 10 lbs. doesn't sound like too much in a year. Maybe you're not eating enough or not enough protein or another food group. I Hope you get it figured out to your satisfaction :)

If that was the case I'd be happy but I'm 5'8 and now 145 lbs so I'm not really heavy. And I was actually a runner before I was diagnosed but I just don't have the energy. I eat good, but I always have ... although I've always had a perpetual sweet too. Lol! Maybe it is my thyroid.
