Cancer of the Week

Okay, maybe this is a bad idea, but I think it could be a stress relief for others to know that they are not alone when thinking every little thing is cancer. A woman posted on another forum about how her and a friend would joke about their "cancer of the week" how true it is for so many of us! I also think some of the stuff posted could be pretty funny in hindsight and maybe lighten our hearts a bit.

I will start: yesterday I did a step aerobics video, my lower leg was hurting and it's not the first time I have experienced this, my first thought was bone mets! lol.

Love this Vamp!! I once got concerned over dry elbow skin...like it was pagets of the elbow! The last imagined cancer of the week was toenail ridges (aging) and for a few minutes wondered what life would be like without feet...I’m such a putz :))))

vamp- great idea for a thread!

I kept having this weird pain in my lower shin whenever I would lay down in bed at night. Always the same spot. Felt like a bruise. Took me a couple of weeks to figure out it is exactly where my right heel rests on my left shin when I lay on my back! That’s why it hurt whenever I laid down!

Never a problem before, but Not bone mets

When I was lying on my side this morning, I had this horrible sharp pain. My first thought, "hope it's not cancer".

I had a sore thumb at diagnosis and the nurse poliinformed me that she’s never seen thumb cancer and while I did have a single hip bone met, my thumb issue was from how I was holding the steering wheel (new car), lol

Oh ladies, isn't it wonderful to share and laugh at our silliness? I love it! If cancer is going to take our minds to the worst, we may as well get a laugh out of it!

Cancer of the week - uterine or endometrial. I am 99% sure the 5 out of 6 symptoms I have are a side effect of the lovely Tamoxifen, but of course my mind does stray to that place!

    Great thread!

My thumbnail suddenly turned yellow. Of course it was some weird cancer. Or perhaps a mustard stain from the sandwich I had for dinner.

LiMa - hahaha that's so true isn't it where our mind takes us after getting diagnosed!

Had a terrible headache yesterday and thought maybe my brain mets were getting bigger instead of shrinking, turns out I just neededthe caffeine. Skipped my morning coffee due to early morning scans, 10 minutes after my first sip, the headache was gone. Sure was a worrisome few hours in between though.

Ah yes, those darn early morning scans and surgeries that won't let us have at least our morning coffee can sure ruin the day. :P Glad you are feeling better and hope all is good news with the scans illimae! xxx

Cancers of the week- eyelid pain- weird place to get pain, only noticed while putting on mascara. No sty, no sign of infection. Kept waiting for something to show up, but then it went away.

Throbbing earache yesterday- when you’re hoping to have an ear infection! Feels better today.

Feels sooo foolish, it’s literally Every Little Thing!

A very late, but heartfelt congrats Illimae (my autocorrect kept changing your name to 'illegitimate' LOL!!)

Thought I'd pop into Vamp's awesome thread to report my recent cancer scandal. I developed a weird bump high up on my chest, about 2" above my lumpectomy scar (yikes!!). Upon inspection it looked weepy and it itched like mad. I then spent an entire evening running to the mirror to check out my IBC...so much so that my hubs said 'excuse me Ms. Jolie, you're wanted on set". After pointing out the spot, he looked and reminded me of the exploding fat stir fry incident that happened earlier in the evening when I was slaving over a hot burner.

I looked that man straight in the eye and said “I’m ready for my close up Mr. DeMille”.

Go illimae! That is awesome news!

Ok well today I had a positive TB skin test ( I work in healthcare, and it is my annual check) and I'm sitting there asking the nurses "seriously?? cuz it doesn't look like it????" They said "feel this bump" and my stomach dropped, and I thought dear lord I have cancer in my forearm. Then that anxiety caused a hot flash (surgical menopause)...this is my life it seems lately.. I go to breast cancer camp (retreat) weekend after next to work on survivorship skills....( PS I dont feel a bump, I think they are reading it wrong.)

Ms Jolie can I get your autograph, no actually can I get any hot pictures you may have of your XDH?

Peace - will they re-due the test? I thought we get vaccinated for TB after the first test is clear? I do hope that all is ok! Cancer camp - you may have to come back and share with us how it goes and any wonderful tips to stop thinking everything is cancer!

Clearly the round bruises on my legs are Kaposi's sarcoma. Or maybe where my heels occasionally bump my calves during Zumba.

I had this with symptoms before my diagnosis so you can imagine how I'm now. I finished chemo on 17th of august, of course I've had constipation and a fissure. I was convinced its something bad. also in the middle of chemo I 've noticed a mole/bruise at my sole and some brownish patches at my palms...you know... but last week I had also a bone pain (I sleep at the couch all the time) at my pelvis and leg. after x-ray turns out to be inflammation of the hip joint...

So, now my neck is the problem. The left side feels like a sore muscle, which is totally likely because I had a pinched nerve on the opposite side and have been rolling/stretching my neck like crazy but since last months brain mri and ct scans (both stable) looked everywhere except my neck, I’m aware of what’s possible. MO isn’t worried and muscle relaxers helped some, trying to stay reasonable 😬

illimae - you may have "text" neck. I have some issues with my neck and have been working with PT to fix the problem. It seems a lot of our neck problems come from our poor posture, the constant "text" neck - hard to avoid when almost everything we do requires us to look down. (I get bloody enough watching what I cut, couldn't image trying to do it with perfect posture. ) Here is a link to a video showing how to do them if you want to give it a try:

I have also tried yoga: Hope this helps. The other thing they have me do is every other hour sit with good posture for 2 minutes.

    xxx
