Birads 5 was benign
Hi,
I wanted to share my story because this forum has helped get through the last few weeks and I would like to help others that could be in my situation. I am 35 years old, I went in for a routine mammogram 3 weeks ago (no symptoms). The radiologist called and said hey need to do an ultrasound the next day. My ultrasound came back with a birads score of 5! I was scared to death when I found out what that meant (on my own on the internet). The results also said the 4.3 cm mass had malignant and carcinoma charactertics. A week later I had a surgeon perform a ultrasound guided breast boipsy. It took a week to get the results and I was a wreck! Worst week of my life. The results were benign, fibrocystic changes with atypical ductal hyperplasia. I am having it removed in a couple of weeks just in case. But I feel so much better. The point is is, no matter what there is always hope. My heart goes out to all of you who have not have similar results. I will keep you updated.
By the way, is there anyone who has had a similar biopsy and later found out is was cancer?

calle----mine was a BIRADS 5 and it turned out to be LCIS ( a step further along the bc spectrum than ADH with double the risk; a non-invasive bc). Mine was found on stereotactic core biopsy, then confirmed during wide excisional lumpectomy. Praying yours stays at ADH and nothing more is found.

I was a Birads 4 after Mammo and Ultras sound. I had core need biopsy which showed ALH/LCIS and the recommendation was excisional biopsy. I had excisonal biopsy and the results were benign. I go for my post op appt on 2-9 so I will get to go over my report and see what if any thing I need to do next. This forum has been a blessing for me.

WOW, that is fantastic!! I was BIRADS 5 and three breast specialists told me they were certain I had invasive breast cancer... thankfully, although my results weren't benign, I only had DCIS (which is a "best case scenario" cancer, next to LCIS).
You're smart to have it removed... they will be able to confirm after it's removed that it was indeed all benign, and you'll feel so much better. (It does sometimes happen that a lumpectomy reveals something the biopsy did not, but that's not likely to be the case, so you can rest easy!) Congrats on the great news!!

Hi Kcalle74
My mom get a Mammogram and ultrasound with birads 4B, she is 53, on her core biopsy show ADH so her doctor want to removed to be sure is nothing there, she said she can't be sure without a new Biopsy, but I been reading a lot about this and most time come back bening but if not is a good chance to be a early stage like DCIS..... so just still pray.
I will like hear anyone with ADH...experience also.....
(my english is not to good)

I have birads 5 but benign biopsy. The day I got results they told me they had been sure it was going to come back malignant. Now I have an MRI scheduled for this Friday. I was not good on getting mamograms. I have been having pain in my arms, shoulders, neck. I am afraid I have let it go too long. I had sore on my nipple that healed twice and the third time I finally went to md.
Should I be worried because I already am. thanks

Hi I'm Joy 30 years old and a single mom. Just this May 2018, I found out some changes on my left breast. I don't know if it's a tumor, cyst or lump. After 2months it grew too fast from 2cm into 6cm. It even grew into 9cm in my 2nd biopsy. I wasn't surprised cause I have a2 year-old daughter. I used to carry her. The doctor told me to undergo an ultrasound and it shows birads 5. I was scared. So, I did my 1st core needle biopsy on July 25, 2018 and it's result was BENIGN FIBROFATTY TISSUE WITH ACUTE NON-SPECIFIC INFLAMMATION: SMALL FRAGMENT SUGGESTIVE OF NODULAR ADENOSIS. But, the doctor wasn't convince at all. So, I did again my 2nd core needle biopsy on August 8, 2018 and it's result was BENIGN BREAST TISSUE. In it's Microscopic Description shows strips of fibrofatty tissues mildly infiltrated with mononuclear cells. I was happy with the result. But, the doctor told me to undergo an Ultrasound Guided Biopsy. I said NO cause it's not that easy to be biopsied again for the 3rd time. So, I asked for another option and he said just a plain breast ultrasound. Later on, we'll proceed to an Excision Biopsy which is to totally remove the lump/tumor/cyst. I really don't know the term yet. All I believe that it's Benign and it's not cancerous. The doctor told me about the risks. God already answered my prayers on my two previous biopsies and He even gave me a sign in one of my dreams while sleeping. So, I must be strong with my faith to God.
Thank you for reading my story and I hope I can read same stories of mine.
I have this question on my mind, I already did 2 core needle biopsy. Is it more accurate than a breast ultrasound and is it enough to prove that my situation is really benign? I hope I can get answers too.
Have a nice day!

so happy for all of you ladies💐💐
mine was BIRADS 3 and had a recommendation to come back in 12 months. I insisted on biopsy and it came back malignant to everyone's shock and horror.
sometimes those categories can be subjective. I thank God every day that I didn't wait 12 months!!

I recently received a birad 5rating as well. I have biopsy scheduled for tomorrow. There are three masses and a suspicious lymph node. Really hoping for the best. My family is supportive and everyone is praying but it is so hard not knowing. Trying to turn this over to HIM 🙏

Hi, I'm 44 years old, I did my breast screaning since 2012 to 2016 starting from mammogram, ultrasounds, MRI and core biopsy and it's always turn out to a benign results. After 2 yrs (dec.2018) I had my mammogram again and I received a birads 5 results which getting me insane when I found out. The hospital gave me an option to do the rapid test to get the rapid result. So yesterday I did my MRI already and tomorrow I have my core biopsy appointment and the following day they told me to come back for the final result. And that would be a BIG day for me, im so scared, I am not ready to hear any bad news. But still hoping for a miracle 🙏

Mine was evaluated BIRADS 4 on MRI which showed low initial signal and plateau kinetics post-contrast with SPICULATED margins. It goes without saying that I went through a hell of a month, underwent further imaging through Contrast Enhanced Spectral Mammo (which means yet another contrast infusion, no wonder why my hair is falling like autumn leaves since July...) and the final (wide) lumpectomy with the histology turning out benign (I was in total disbelief when I received the results). I read many stories here of people having received several benign biopsies and histology reports over the course of years and decades before they eventually got diagnosed with bc so I never actually celebrated my benign results and I'll always be on the guard which is not a bad thing as it means that I'll never skip my regular breast check ups. I also changed my whole lifestyle adopting wholesome regime and regular light exercise but I do know that this alone can't guarantee that there will be no future occurrences, benign or malignant. Season's Greetings everyone!

Hi,
I too, just received an ultrasound diagnotic report of a 10 mm mass birad 5 highly suspicious of malignancy along with calcifications that also need biopsied. I am scheduled for March 6 and am just sick with worry. Do the biopsies hurt? I googled of course and a birad of 5 is not good. Just trying to get through the next week. Don't know how you all have done this, it is SO anxiety provoking. All clear on last years mammo and ultrasound (dense breasts) and then wow, 3 biopsies needed and suspected malignancy???
