    Hi All,

When I first found out I was pregnant, at about 4 weeks, I noticed a small pea sized lump directly under my left nipple at about the 5 o'clock position. It is slightly movable but is clearly attached to the skin under my nipple. It is hard and seems to have a pretty smooth edge. When feeling of it, it also seemed to have a strand that feels like maybe a milk duct attached. I asked my doctor about it at my 1st OB appt. she felt of it and said she thought it was nothing but scheduled an U/S for 2 weeks later. The U/S showed a lemon seed shaped lump, the doctor felt of it and said he didnt know what it was but didnt have any concern as it looked "harmless". I am now 22 weeks pregnant and it is about twice the size and feels like two lumps attached to one another. I also have developed a grape shaped lump under my right arm. I have another appointment with a breast specialist to have it looked at but it is a month away and I am super nervous. The doctors want to chalk it up to hormonal changes with pregnancy but I have two previous children and haven't had this issue with my breasts. Does anyone else have a lump that has seemed to have multiplied?

    Dear hopingandpreparing,

We welcome you here but so sorry that these breast changes and their worry have brought you here, especially during your pregnancy. You are certainly not alone as we regularly hear from those who are pregnant and dealing with breast changes and the anxiety that such can bring. It looks like you are taking all of the necessary precautions and following a path that will hopefully bring you some resolution and peace of mind. The only thing we might add is to work to move up the appointment with the breast specialist. While not necessarily a medical emergency it can be an emotional one as you want to decrease stress and worry during pregnancy as you are able. Perhaps you can put your name of a wait list for a sooner appointment. We are wishing you a benign result and a quick resolution. Keep us posted. The Mods

    Dear Moderators,

Thank you so much for your reply, suggestions, and well wishes. I certainly wish I could get my appointment moved up and will not stop trying. The specialist that I have been scheduled with is apparently one of the best in my area. They do not have a wait list and have asked me to call periodically to see if their have been any cancellations. I do not think that they consider me a high risk, which, I suppose, could be a good thing. I keep trying to reassure myself that these things are somewhat common in pregnancy but I think most of my concern is that I noticed the lump as soon as I found out I was pregnant so I'm almost certain that it may have been there before hand and is not pregnancy related. Also, the new lump under my arm (that my doctor suggests is "breast tissue") is quite concerning.
