Recently diagnosed awaiting operation date

tlw0818, I am sorry you have found yourself here, but I can tell you this. Everyone on here has been so supportive, and here. I was just diagnosed recently as well. I can tell you that I have also been on an emotional roller coaster. I can sympathize with feeling drained, I just had my breast MRI this morning, and fully intended to go to yoga this evening but not feeling motivated. Have you met with your surgeon yet? Things did feel a little better for me after I was headed in the direction of a treatment plan. I also took the advice that I saw on here to make up a binder to keep track of all my test results, mileage, appointments, and insurance statements. I did a little retail therapy at the local craft sore to pretty it up and fiddle with the organization of it when I am feeling antsy. I know there are others that will have some good advice for you. I truly wish you moments of peace, its hard, and all of this just sucks.

tlw, sorry you find yourself here, but I hope those you meet here will be a source of help and (((hugs))). Waiting is the hardest part but glad you have a treatment plan in place. Feeling fatigue, emotions, and anger are all part of this journey. On your way to surgery and treatment, you might want to browse through some of the threads here discussing your type of surgery, treatment, rads, and hormone treatment. Sometimes just plugging into one thread will lead you to others. Maybe start with those, like you, waiting for surgery in September September 2018 Surgery Support Group or the August group. I too am awaiting surgery date after being diagnosed only last Friday and what a whirlwind since then. I can't get into the surgeon until next Thursday which seems like a million years away. I am sitting here thinking how much will this thing grow in a week or two. 

I have a mammogram yearly as my Mum had breast cancer. My last one was 11 months ago. Go figure. Plus surgery just called and moved appointment to Tuesday so 2 days less to stress. 

TLW, sounds like you are having a lumpectomy? Yes, you can let your surgeon know you'd rather him be too conservative rather than worry about the cosmetic affect of the surgery; sometimes they even do a pathology right in the operating room and take out an extra bit if the margins are too close. Hopefully you have an experienced breast surgeon you trust and can talk to.

Just got diagnosed stage 1B,grade 1

ER+/PR+/Her2-

Met with the surgeon, he said mastectomy probably will be scheduled in a month, I’m really scared, can’t wait this long, please share with your experience, how soon you had the surgery done, is 1 month too long

I was diagnosed on 3/6 and had my surgery on 3/31 (of last year)

It normally takes a few weeks for scheduling, prep, etc. So, don’t stress. I think you will be just fine.

Just diagnosed with a recurrence. I have an appointment on September 5 with a BS so I'll find out next week when my surgery will be scheduled.

TLW, is it a lumpectomy? I only needed Tylenol and ice for three days then was able to go back to work. But it will be awhile before you can lift anything with that arm. The stretching exercises they prescribe are super important.

Doctor found benign mass on my left side (mri ), and I want double mastectomy, hope he won’t talk me out
