My clinic recommended Aquaphor, which is very inexpensive at Wal-Mart. That's the only thing I used. I would always have a coating of it on my skin, and the burning was minimal. The only disadvantage is that it is very oily. It stains the clothing,so I had to throw away a couple of old T-shirt and old pajamas that I used during that time.

My nurse told me they used to recommend miaderm, but didn't see any difference other then the price and the fact that is less oily (which some women favor).

My RO always gave me samples of Aquafor.

Just agreeing with Ingerp that my RO recommended calendula cream throughout treatment (for prevention) and said to consider Aquaphor if I did develop skin issues at the end. I found Calendula cream at Whole Foods and in my hospital pharmacy. Amazon also sells it.

I’ve been using good old fashioned Crisco after developing a really bad burn and rash and giving up on all the “recommended” creams. I’ve been treating it like a burn - went to a dermatologist - and he recommended crisco since it’s non-medicated, non-allergenic, and Oil emulsion patches. It has made all the difference. Of course, each person is different but I’m fed up with radiation docs and nurses saying it will go away and not giving any importance to the day-to-day as you’re living it. They don’t think it through , just mechanically throw names at the patient, as the “only” accepted treatment. I’ve realized that they’re not interested in our comfort but in the ease with which they can do their jobs. So, I stopped worrying about them and started taking care of me. Treatments have continued normally and the world didn’t end! Ha! My skin feels much better and I can finally feel in control. I hope this helps.
