Just needing a place to get some opinions. I am 37 and I went for a mammogram 6 months ago and 2 assymetrys were found in my left breast. I had an ultrasound and 3d tomo mammogram also. Well friday is my appt for my follow up and I'm just full of anxiety and scared as ever. I will put the wording from my last visit so you ladies can see and tell me if you've had anything similar. FINDINGS:- There are scattered areas of fibroglandular density.- The right mammogram appears unremarkable. The targeted right breast ultrasound is unremarkable.- In the left breast there are 2 asymmetries, one measuring 3 cm at posterior central left breast and the other measuring 2 cm laterally which appear to correspond to overlapping glandular tissue on the tomosynthesis images. Targeted left breast ultrasound is unremarkable.- Breast physical examination performed by our technologist demonstrates no evidence of discrete mass.- These images were obtained with FDA-approved digital mammography equipment. Computer-aided detection was performed. FDA-approved tomography (3D) was also used for this exam.- IMPRESSION:- 1. Negative right mammogram and targeted right breast ultrasound. 2 left breast asymmetries appear to correspond to asymmetric glandular tissue on the tomosynthesis images. Negative targeted left breast ultrasound.- 2. Clinical follow-up recommended for right breast pain and right breast skin lesion. In the absence of further clinical recommendations, the next imaging interval is as follows: Diagnostic Left mammogram and possible ultrasound recommended in 6 months.- Patient was informed.- BI-RADS category 3: Probably Benign . Clinical follow-up also needed.

"Probably benign"--that's the good news! It is very nerve wracking to have any lumps or masses or strange things in your breasts. Be courageous, my dear, because they are probably benign.

Agreeing with WinningSoFar. That sure sounds like no cancer to me, and they're still trying to figure out what's going on with a skin issue and pain you're having, right? "No evidence of discrete mass" is good news and "unremarkable" is also a great word to hear. Hang in there.

The pain ended up being pain before my period and the skin issue was just a normal old lesion that took a while to fade away. The only issue now is the follow up 😕

Just an update so anyone else with an asymmetry can see that they are not all cancer. Mine was tissue overlapping and I am done with mammos until I am 40 now. Thanks for all of your help ladies and gentleman!
