Checking in about a SE. I feel so much more nauseated this time. I am still having to take the anti-nausea and it’s the second week! Anyone else? I’m either taking the thc/cbd tincture which only lasts for two hours or I have to take the percholorazine (sp) which makes me tired.
Congrats Jkittle on your last a/c!!!!!!!! good luck on the scans!
-
I’m shedding so much right now but still having to shave my legs. Just doesn’t seem fair. I know hair loss is a small price to pay but it is very depressing. I’ve had long hair since I was a child. I cried like a baby when I got it cut off. And just when I start to get used to my new reflection the hair starts coming out faster.
-
Misha, I had nausea the whole morning today, after AC last Monday... yesterday too... today is day 8. ugh. Maybe a talk with your MO could help?
Yesterday I went for a blood check (which was OK), there was another MO, since my MO is in a (well deserved) vacation. And she seemed really sympathetic and concerned, that my nausea lasts so long, and that I lost a few pounds due to that. I'm already very thin. So she prescribed a new medication that I am to take prior to the last AC next week. So I hope it will help some.
-
Ja, Did they give you Zofran for the nausea? It isn't sedating and works really well!
In the meanwhile, my SEs don't kick in until my second week, and it has definitely been worse. I spiked a fever yesterday, so I'm in the hospital for fluids, antibiotics, and something to heal my mucositis. Push fluids. Push!!! They have me 2 L of fluid in the ER and I felt tons better almost immediately! And once my temp came down, I really wanted to go home. (I knew that was a pipe dream. My white cells are down to 0.3)
Anyway., it scared my babies terribly. Grown women need their moms, too. I must have looked horrible. She had me at the hospital in under ten minutes.
WTG, Rose!
Hang in there, ladies. We've got this!
Oh, my local oncologist also suggested that we chew ice while they infuse our Adriamycin. He said it helps. I'll report back after my AC#3.
-
Gina-How high was your fever? I have a low grade fever since last night and I feel like I might have a cold. Glad you got to the hospital and hope you seen doing better!
Dawn I am happy to report I haven’t had to shave my legs in at least two weeks!! Sorry you are shedding, it’s hard to see it go, but it will grow back. Even that darn leg hair!
JaBoo I will definitely report the nausea because that was sucky! Only since yesterday have I not felt nauseated.
Happy Thursday and good luck to anyone doing chemo today or tomorrow!

HI all, question for cold cappers: I’m starting round 3 next Tuesday (TC). After my first round I shed about 30% of my hair on days 14-20. Now I’m on day 17 of 2nd round and haven’t seen much coming out. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or if now that I have a little less hair I got better cap coverage? I know there’s a cold cap thread but it’s so long to search through.
Wishing you all well

Dawn117 We are on the same treatment tchp, first round was the 3rd Aug. and heading back for number two in the morning. I hope it's better than the first one. I to went through the hair thing, cut off 6inches to my shoulders, and four days later had to shave it.
SunnyDee24 I have had the same feelings and side effects. MO has changed things around for number two tomorrow. And added 3 more days of the steroids. I will let you know if it gets any better, with new nausea med also. -
-
Hey Holly, Hughope1 here, I lost you for awhile. Was in the Aug group, this is the group I actually start with. What's going on girl, I am heading out in the morning for round 2 of tchp. I lost my hair last weekend, started coming out in big clumps and head hurt so bad I had my daughter and husband shave it.
It seems you are in the dark place I was after round one of the tchp. I have gotten my MO on board this time with new added meds. I told him I was ready to quit. He made some adjustment, since day eight last time took me back to hospital for hydration and potassium. Day 10 I was able to go back to work for the next 10 days. This time we are extending the dexamethasone (steroid) which I started today for eight days. Day 1 after chemo Friday we are using zyprexa at bedtime for three days, and ondansetron. And he gave me compazine to use instead of zofran. Still have the Zarxio shots for 5 days.
He does not want me to go past Tuesday this time, day four without poss. going back in for fluids. I will keep you posted my friend. I also ordered this stuff called metaqil on amazon. It takes a lot of the metal taste out of your mouth so you can eat a little better. I will write more as soon as I can. Here I come round two. xoxo
Hang strong my friends, what doesn't kill us only makes us stronger.

Jkittle!! That is so cool!!! Is it henna? How long will it last?
Good to see you HughHope!
-
Jkittle! your henna looks BEAUTIFUL
-
I came home last night . Lord, it felt good!.
Jkittle. Your Henna is gorgeous! I want
one!
Misha. My temp got to up 101.4, I think. I'm supposed to call the doctor for 100.3 or lower, go to the ER at 100.4.
#3 AC Monday. It feels close to suicidal to consciously go back to that chair. Sheesh!!!
At least I'm halfway through the AC. 2 down. 2 more to go, then Taxol.
Love and prayers to all.
-
Guess who had to go to the ER last night?? Gina-I had asked about your fever because mine was getting up there! Yesterday afternoon I felt like crap and temp was 100.6.
So after four hours and a bunch of blood work, chest X-ray and EKG, they said my wbc was good and they sent me home with some antibiotics!
Hopefully I’ll still get to finish my ac on Monday, but I’m not sure. Okay, I lie, I really hope they cancel it...ugh. I know it’s only one more...still ugh.
Anyway, don’t be afraid to go to ER with a temperature! They really do take it seriously!
-
JKittle - Your henna is gorgeous. WOW!!!
Misha13 - I'm glad you are home and hope they give you another week to recover.
Hughhope - How did you last round go? Keep me posted. I'm only a week ahead of you. My second round of TCH+P was on the 15th.
-
Dawn117 day two of second round, just took my zarxio shot. So far so good. I thing them changing my medications around is helping. The shot will be the real teller here. Give me a little more time and I will update later on tonight.
be strong girls, we are all in this battle together. All my best wishes and prayers go out to you.

Enjoying my 2 days with a good stomach by splurging on dessert
I'm down a couple lbs despite my best efforts, so hell yeah..that chocolate sauce tasted normal too. I had a chicken sandwich with bacon 🥓, (I know, it wasn't much of my beloved bacon though) small fries 🍟 and a vanilla frosty from Wendy's last night too. No tummy problems later either. Nice to have just a bit of 'normal' again, even if it's just for a couple days. I know next week will be rough, if it is anything like #3 was, but I made it through hell week, so I can do it again. Sure hope Taxol will be easier on my stomach. I'm ready now for #4 AC on Monday, but hallelujah it's the last one. Stay strong y'all.

That was my hand earlier today from getting stung by a wasp.I'm feeling a lot better now. Kinda freaked me out for awhile though. Worst allergic reaction to a sting that I've ever had. I guess it's because of my immune system being weaker than normal right now. Took 2 Tylenol, a Claritin and 1 of the steroid pills I have here for nausea. It also can be used for allergic reactions apparently. I also used ice and a CBD cream which seemed to help more than anything else. After I got stung, all of a sudden I had red welts all over my other arm and it was spreading! Crazy itchy, even up to my ears. I've never had hives before, but I knew that's what it was from Dr. Google lol. My throat was even feeling tight. 😳 I have asthma, so that made me nervous. After about 30mins, I thought well I guess it's not gonna kill me, I'm still here. Lol Did not want to go to ER ugh.. The welts have gone down, my arm looks normal again, no more itching and swelling is better on my hand too now. Oh, and while I was getting stung in my backyard, I also got 2 mosquito bites. Geez.. I'm done with the outdoors for the rest of the weekend! Lol

JKittle! wonderfull tatoo!! How long will it stay? (is it henna?)
Misha, sorry to hear about your temp and ER trip... I hope the antibiotics help you. That sucks. Your last AC is supposed to be tommorrow, isn't it?
RoseRed, aaawwww that stupid wasp! Enormous swelling, I agree, it's probably due to the immune system being changed/weakened by chemo... Isn't your last AC tommorrow too? And delicious ice cream! I've been eating a lot for a few days now too, even every treat I came across... I fear the next AC, the nausea lasted like 10 days and I've lost some weight. So I'm trying to gain some back. I wonder about Taxol, what it be like. I get it with Herceptin and maybe Perjeta too. Everyone here says it's gonna be easier... hope so!
My last AC was supposed to be tommorrow, but the MO has a day off... of course I could go to another MO, but since it is only one day, she said I can come on Tuesday, the one day isn't going to do any difference. So I have tomorrow as a normal day as a bonus. I'm going to make a trip somewhere with the kids, it's their last week of school vacation. After AC, I won't be able to, in fact I wonder how I'm going to take care of them. Last time I had help (MIL stayed) but not this time. I may call on some friends and ask for a few hours if baby-sitting. Gosh I could use some cooking help. I don't like cooking, but with the nausea and zero appetite... it's even more difficult.
-
Hi gals!
Getting ready for my first Taxol plus Ch this Friday, don’t know what to expect. Glad the AC chemo is over! The thing I hate the most is the steroids. I had several CT scans to look at my tumor and nodes and that darn adrenal gland last Friday, waiting to hear results. The barium drink (2 of them!!) made me feel like shit (literally...) all day but I was ok by the next morning. Not really looking forward to weekly chemo as I enjoyed the week “off” with AC. Hope you all are doing well, I’m rocking my henna tattoo and going with no hat these days except while at work.
❤️ Jenn
-
Big hugs my friend! I’m having a hard time. Working is so hard. I’m a hairdresser and my neuropathy is so bad. Numbness and pain. Hurts to walk from the Nulesta. One more AC this Friday. I’m excited and scared. This last one still hurts. THC/CBD helps. No real cure for the numbness. I keep telling myself it’s temporary. I don’t be want to talk to anyone because I have nothing positive to say. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I hope you feel better soon
-
Jenn, congrats on moving on! Your henna is so cool. I’m looking for someone local to do mine. Keep us updated. I want to know how the weekly is. My hands are so numb as it is and I’m so fatigued. I have an adrenal tumor also. Darn bodies.
-
Nicole,
What do you know about your adrenal tumor? Mine was biopsied with CT before and although no cancer, also no adrenal cells so results were inconclusive. I’ll keep you posted on my results from the latest CT scan. I haven’t had any neuropathy from AC but it’s more common with the next type of chemo for me. hope things get better for you with SE’s.
Jenny
-
The exact same with my adrenal tumor. But I guess if it shrinks that’s not good. So you want no changes to it from chemo. My oncologist is seeing me early Wednesday to address the neuropathy. Dreading the last AC Friday but also just want it done. Yes I’m not looking forward to 12 weeks of Taxol which is notorious for neuropathy. Please keep us updated.
-
T-minus one hour until last ac. It’s good to see all you ladies. It helps to know I’m not alone in this.
Rose-Holy crap that sting! I hope the swelling has gone away completely!
JaBoo-I wish you lots of help with the kids! That’s no fun.
Hi to all the Monday Mavens!
-
good news! My adrenal gland has NOT changed in size so unrelated to cancer! Yay!!! My MO recommended B6 and Glutamine supplements for the upcoming weekly Taxol/Carboplatin chemo to help ward off neuropathy. Hoping that does the trick as I’m a dental hygienist and really need my hands all day. Hoping you all have a great week with low SEs and high WBC counts!
Jenny
-
Jenny that is awesome news!!! Congrats! Must be a huge relief!!
I’m officially done with ac!!!!!!!
-
Had my #4 AC this morning. Yay 😁 Everything went well like usual. Went by myself today because my bf came down with a virus last week. Stopped at Sonic for a milkshake on my way home and just taking it easy now. Fluids, fluids, fluids.
Rose
-
Jkittle great news!
RoseRed and Misha - now I'm catching up with you. The red devil is dripping - my last AC. Some changes in medication has been made due to my prolonged nausea last time. So I hope I will cope some.
-
Good morning friends. Round 3 of 4 today. Why does this round seem the hardest as far as anticipation? Dreading this coming weekend as I'm usually really suffering day 4-6.
Have a list of questions for MO today. One is asking for a sleep aid other than Ativan. Does anyone use Ambien or CBD oil and get good effects??? Also going to try to eat fruit only and smoothies during the infusion to try to keep things moving digestively, last 2 times I was constipated for nearly 5 days!
Hoping by posting here I can let go of this anticipation and also send out good thoughts to all of you this week.
-
So about an hour after my infusion yesterday, I started shaking violently and had a fever of 103! Went to ER and I have pneumonia!! A big wtf?!
I’m on all kinds of antibiotics and fluids so I don’t feel too bad. Hope everyone’s week is going better!!
Rose and JaBoo congrats on being done with ac!
