No, indentations are definitely NOT always cancer. Our breasts can develop all kinds of lumps, bumps, rashes, and dimples over the years, the majority of which will be benign. You are doing the right thing having it checked, but don't get too carried away just yet.

    Hi Rizz,

I just wanted to let you know that I too have an indent on one breast. Mine is in my areola on the inside of my right breast. It has drastically changed the countour of my breast. My nipple has also pulled in on the inside of the same breast and it now looks like the letter "c".

I have had a mammogram, a spot compression mammogram, and an ultrasound. There have been findings but they are on the outside of my breast and nowhere close to the indentation or the pulled in nipple.

I am going to see my OB as I have only been to my GP and push for an MRI as not having answers is very hard and ultrasounds and mammograms can miss things.

I would encourage you to get it checked and get peace of mind.

I hope all is well with you!

    hi MiaMay

I am going to see the dr tomorrow I know she will suggest ultrasound and mammogram etc but untill I get my test done and get the results the fear is killing me. Please do tell me about your MRI reports when it comes.

Thanks for your kind and supportive words :)

I think we all know about that fear. It's a monster. Try to keep your hands busy. Busy hands will help keep your mind from perseverating on things. Do things that you have to think about, like cleaning, sewing, planting, knitting, painting, etc. Yoga and exercise help, too.

Let us know how it goes for you.

    Rizz,

I will let you know if they let me have one. I'm truly hoping they will. I hope you too share your results with us as I will be thinking and praying for you.

Another good thing to remember is avoid google. I googled to the point I practically went into hysteria. I made google off limits and now the only thing I allow is this website and talking to lovely ladies like yourself. <3

It is hard as we are desperate for answers and if you are like me, you want to find the non scary things it can be. Google doesn't really work that way. It only gives you the scary stuff and leaves you in a frozen state of panic.

It has been comforting reading other women's stories because it reminds me I am not alone. There are women like you going through this too. That means no matter what we learn, we have met women that can hold us up and we can hold them up.

I hope all goes well. Deep breaths. You can do this! One day at a time one moment at a time. :)

MiaMay, you are so right. Google is great if you're looking up when's the next meteor shower or facts about curly haired dogs, but it's terrible for looking up things having to do with breasts. Almost anything with the word "breast" in it comes up "breast cancer." And most of the sites it brings up will either not apply to you at all or will be of dubious science. There is a LOT of misinformation on the internet and Google seems to delight in taking us there.
