chemo cough

Options

Has anyone else experienced a dry cough following chemo treatment. It gets particularly bad in the evenings. If so are there any treatments out there and does it ever get better. I've had this for 5 weeks now!

The mucus membranes in your nose, throat, and lungs are affected by chemo, which could be making you dry and causing a cough. Or you might have a little bug given that chemo reduces your immune function. I'd encourage you to call your nurse, navigator, or oncologist, whichever seems best to you, to ask about this and hear what's recommended. For example, they may not want you using a humidifier while your immune function is low. Good luck!

Yes, me :-/ I've had it for about 4 weeks now. Very annoying. During the day I usually think it's getting better, but come evening it's back. I've mentioned it to my MO. Twice I got smears taken from my throat (it was red and sore), both times negative. I take the usual OTC medicines for dry cough (approved by my MO). It helps some.

I had severe chemo cough - one thing that helped me was using saline nose spray.

yes me too. I think it might be getting better in daytime then worse in evening. I've had a ct scan. No cancer or inflammation. Really hoping this will pass.
