A 12 day whirlwind
As the mother of two, one with severe disabilities, I make ignoring myself look like an Olympic sport. On 7/15/18, I happened to catch a glimpse of myself with my arms raised in the mirror. I realized I had a dimple, and my nipple was trying to go towards the dimple. I immediately cancelled my vacation, got into my doctor. A rapid succession of testing, and I have a 2cm “starfish shaped” area on that breast. Classified as 4c on Bi-Rads. I guess I checked out after she said that, and didn’t hear they saw something on the right as well. I went back for another mammogram and ultrasound yesterday. Got the call that it’s much smaller (6mm), but classified as 4c as well. The core biopsies are tomorrow morning. Here’s the kicker, the left one has been itching for weeks, if not months. I’m 47, and figured we just get itchy. I have absolutely no idea how long all of this has been sitting there. I could really use some encouragement. If it makes any difference, I also have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, and have no idea if that comes into play at all. My head is spinning. Thank y

Hi Friday-
We certainly understand your concerns, and we're so glad you got it checked out. We know it's hard not to worry, and we hope that the results from your biopsies come back favorable. Either way, we're here to support you through this! Best of luck tomorrow morning, please keep us posted!

Here is a piece of advice that I stand by: "worry, when you have something to worry about." Until your doctor says the words," you have cancer," use this time to cook in advance and get your household in shape. If any of your children attend school, work on getting school supplies together. Work, work, work right now, prepping for winter. If things come back positive for cancer, then you are ahead of the game. If they come back negative for cancer, then you have just completed a bunch of work and will have time in the future for a vaca.

thank you. I’m up, and will be there in about two hours., unfortunately, my disabled daughter is also a one girl wrecking machine. LOL. Getting anything done while she’s out for “break” is impossible. They go back on 8/7, PTL., I’ve been distracting myself as much as possible. I also had the doctor call in Xanax, so I can sleep a little. Thank you. I’ll update later.

Friday,
I will be praying for you. I am waiting on biopsy results myself (just got the biopsy yesterday). I also have a daughter that sounds much like yours. She's 15 with multiple physical and mental disabilities. I can understand and appreciate how such makes this whole process and fear of the what if much more frightening, complicated, and challenging. All we can do is one step at a time, try to keep hope, and take whatever as it comes. I pray you get benign results though I do understand 4C is worrisome. But I will keep praying for you. I am here if you would like to talk. Hugs

hi everyone:
Thank you for the sweet replies. I’m notoriously difficult to numb, today was no exception I felt most of it, unfortunately. I’m sore, and of course laying on the table is when the reality of everything hit me. I was a sobbing mess. Not from the physical pain, but emotionally overwhelmed. I should hear back in 3-5 days, and will be taking Xanax around the clock, LOL. I’ll let you know when I know. He’s pretty convinced that the big one is malignant. He saw nothing in my lymph nodes, which is a relief. Just keep praying. Angel, this EDS thing is so rare, and I’m hoping it’s in both of our favors. I’ll be praying for you, too.

hey Friday, we're living in the age of cutting edge treatment for breast cancer. Try to focus on your decisions one by one and not 4c. It's tough but helps with cleaning up the mess. It's like walking into a room that was tuned upside down. You start straightening along the outer edge And you soon find you've cleared a path right through the mess. Be open with your doctors and ask all your questions. This is a great site along with MD Anderson. God bless and stay in touch.

thank you

welp, is 1 of the 4 masses is malignant. Lobular carcinoma. 1.9 cm. It has an excellent survival rate. I’ll see the surgeon next week. That’s all I know for now.

April, have you gotten your results?

Friday, sorry you got bad news. I suggest you get a copy of the biopsy pathology report today (before the weekend). It should list more information on there like grade etc... And join the ILC threads if you want more info about how others with your dx were treated.
hugs & best wishes, -
