Help! Becoming the Old Lady Who Smells Like Pee
Ladies, please help. Or commiserate.
I am 52. Two weeks ago, I started a new cancer treatment: a combination of an investigational drug -- GDC-something (I call it "god damn cancer" to remember it.) And Femara (letrozole).
This is my first AI since menopause.
Two days after I started treatment, I took a whiff of DH after his shower and thought, his aftershave smells like jalapeños. We laughed. I figured my treatment might be messing with how things smell to me. (He wears expensive Chanel.) DH said, "You smell different to me, too. I can't explain it, you just do." I thought that was the end of it.
I went on a weekend trip, without DH, was around lots of people, crowds, etc. Twice I pass someone and smell pee. I don't mean, accidentally wet your pants pee. I mean, the men's room in a bar at 3 a.m. I thought some poor person must have bladder control issues.
So, I just now went to the restroom. OMG. OMFG. It's that pee smell! Me -- I smell like pee. Horrible! Now I'm wondering if it's me I got a whiff of. Or is my sense of smell out of kilter?
Does anyone else have experience with this? I'm going to ask my MO on Thursday. I don't know if it's the Femara or the GDC. But I'm pretty sure it's related to my new meds, because I can't think of any other change in my diet or life.
All of my cancer treatments have changed my body odor/sweat. I could detect MILD changes in my odor, much like women notice changes at different times of the month.
But, heavens, this is awful!
DH arrives home tonight at midnight. I'm gonna try and soak the pee smell away.

I have felt like I had a lady part smell 2 out of the 3 weeks between herceptin/ perjeta for the last 2 years. So distressing. Multiple showers and clean underwear changes. No vaginal discharges or anything like that. It just comes out in my body odors. Hate this. One more reason to hate cancer

I have smelled this, also! Started right when chemo started for me. And hurts down there. Cystitis is a normal side effect of the chemo I was on. It literally stinks

Are you saying you just smell pee or are having an issue with leaking or bladder control?
I have noticed that my body odor has changed as well. I

I have had a lifelong problem with UTIs and have stress incontinence during exercise since childbirth with giant babies. It's gross. I wonder if a soaking bath would help. It is hard to find the time and I only shower. I am also about 30 lbs overweight and have recently started Femara. More sweating like crazy. Has anyone tried feminine wash products . Not douches , with good results ?

You can try a vinegar bath...Start with a recently cleaned/sanitized bath tub. Run a bath of warm water then add approx 1 cup of vinegar if it’s a normal size tub; add 2 cups for one of those oversized tubs. Soak in the tub for 20mins or more. Be sure to dry off with a clean freshly laundered towel. You can also sprinkle cornstarch/powder containing cornstarch on areas that tend to sweat a lot to help absorb it.
