Post surgery, Good results, what can I do next?

I just wanted to start by saying thank you all so much. The women on this site have been so encouraging and helpful. My mom was diagnosed a while ago and the waiting has been horrendous. She has had quite a bit of good results/luck lately (details in the dx.)

My question is in two parts. First, she's done with surgery (lumpectomy and SentNodeBiopsy) and to my knowledge she has 33 radiation treatments coming up, once every business day. After that she has the hormone restrictive medication and biannual mammograms for the foreseeable future. She got out of surgery just a few days ago and is still hurting. Can anyone offer me any advice on what I could tell her to expect for radiation or anything else anyone may have experienced? Or anything someone could have or shouldn't have done to help support you after surgery during treatments?

Second question, after so much help was given to me and my mom I want to be able to give back to the community. She has a page on instagram as she wants to document her situation so others going through the initial diagnoses process can relate and maybe find some relief. Is there anything I can do to help others, I would feel wrong giving advice as I wasn't personally diagnosed. If you have any ideas I would really appreciate it. Thanks again for all of the help and relief this community has provided and thank you for taking the time to read this. I so strongly admire the people in this community.

Hi Tevyn and thanks for the post. Here are my own random thoughts:

Radiation really isn't that bad, and almost becomes a routine. If your mom is up for it, she could look in on the "starting radiation in August" thread here and get a "posse" to help her through it. I also highly recommend the book "Navigating Breast Cancer" by Lillie Shockney, a former nurse. And just driving her to and from the appointments, even once in awhile, would be an awesome gift to her: it honestly becomes pretty boring and it's nice to have a friend or family member to talk to. It's also key to keep her protein levels up, so maybe get her some protein drinks or protein bars; or cook some protein-rich meals for her.

You are also sweet to want to help others. If you do go to radiation treatments with your mom, chatting with the other patients would be helpful. And bringing them water or protein bars would be nice too.
