Went to doctor because of swollen lymph node.

I am 49 and recently felt a lump under my left armpit. I later found out it was my lymph node. It was about 2 cm. I never felt a breast lump. I had not had a mammogram for years. I went to the doctor and a biopsy was done and came back positive for breast cancer in my lymph node. They said it was HER2 - and hormone sensitive and moderately differentiated. I am seeing doctors on Tuesday but I am so afraid that since it wasn't found until my lymph node was swollen that it is more advanced than stage 2. I have been healthy and do not have any other symptoms. Has anyone had a similar experience? I know I should just relax and wait for my appointment where they will run more scans but I have so much anxiety.

    I felt a lump in my armpit, not anywhere else. Turned out to be stage 3a. Very treatable

    I have swollen lymph nodes under my arms. I am going to see a doctor tomorrow. What type of biopsy did you get to test for cancer?

    hello sweetie I had pain under left arm then felt lump in my breast that wasn't there before only felt aching under arm was planning our wedding when diagnosed had 3mo chemo adriamycin cytoxin 5 5fu before and after Lmast thought bout lumpectomy but went for mast got married then rads and 5yrs on Tamoxifen. 24yr Survivor this yr Praise God.

    I had the biopsy after a mammogram and a breast ultrasound. They followed it with a core needle biopsy. Good luck with your appointment. I hope all goes well.
