Anyone with low oncotype score have a recurrence?

    I had a very low oncotype score of 6. This was about ten years ago. I could not tolerate tamoxifen due to severe side effects but it was my only option as I was pre- menopausal. I had a lumpectomy and radiation, no chemo. Sadly my cancer did metastize to my lung and some bone last summer. I was quite shocked going for ten years I thought I was cured. Hard to look back and wonder if I should have done something different but even with treatment cancer does what it wants. I did have genetic testing and was not positive for anything known at this time.

    Katyk, sorry to hear that the cancer came back. Hopefully you can get those mets zapped. Are you getting AI therapy? I hope you can take it without any trouble. I know many people with low oncodx scores are banking on not having to worry about recurrence. It is easy to get wrapped up in the statistics. My high oncodx number, 34, put a huge black cloud overhead. I just couldn't convince myself I should do chemo to bring my probability 23% to maybe down to 10%. So I worry about the cancer I am at year 7. I figure I am under surveillance so if it comes back AI will deal with it then. I managed to get 4 years of anastrozole and exemestane under my belt.

    What is Al therapy? I am taking Ibrance and letrozole. Tumors have shrunk and now stable. Physically I’m doing quite well - still active with family and friends, hike, mountain bike. But very scared and hoping to be NED. Asyou all know it’s a rough journey!

    Yes you are getting the right therapy letrozole and ibrance. Good hormone driven cancer therapy.

    katyk- if i may , just want to ask if what stage was your cancer ten years ago , the grade and lymphnodes status, size of ur tumor... thanks 🙏
