Hello,

How soon were you given the “all clear” to drive?

Thanks for your help.

It will depend on what kind of surgery you're having.

Don't forget that you can't drive if you are on any prescription (narcotic) pain meds. I had bmx and remember that when I first started driving (2-3 weeks out?), turning my head/body was a bit uncomfortable but I was fine going straight ! Best of luck to you.

I had no choice and drove to my PS appt to get my drains out but that is what I was told also, when the drains come out.

I only had my drains in for six days. My PS said no driving for two weeks and would need to be off of narcotics as well. That worked well for timing. The first time or two out on the road was a little nerve wracking, but it quickly got better.

I have to agree with all stated above, I was told after the drains come out and no longer on pain medicine due to you can get a DUI for driving under the influence. I had a double BMX. Driving was very uncomfortable at first due to where the seat belt is poistion, so I got a seat belt cushion & been ok to drive every since. Listen to your body as well, don't push yourself into doing to much to soon or it could make you have a set back. Hope this helps best wishes SA

    Hi,

I was able to drive when I was off of pain medication and at least 2 wks post BMX. I was able to drive with drains and at a later date even traveled to France when I had drains postop once for a few months following a separate surgery. My surgeon never seemed to limit driving or working due to drains. However, lifting restrictions affected my activity and driving was restricted if on any pain meds.

    Hope this helps,

I could drive when drains came out. I followed the advice. Second surgery the drains are staying put (going on 3 weeks) and it doesn’t seem to make a difference if I do nothing for 3 days straight or drive. So I am dricing
