    Hi all,

I've had a tiny lump under my right breast since my twenties, I am now in my thirties. It had pain when pressed especially during period but no other symptoms. I went to the doctor last March for other reasons but as I was there I mentioned the lump because I started having symptoms like tingling and burning sensation on the outer side of the breast and sometimes sharp shooting pain. She sent me to mammo and they did an US with a core needle biopsy. It came out as 7 mm fibroadenoma as thought originally. I have fairly dense breasts. They told me to come back in 6 months for check up, earlier if it changes.

Right after I noticed my areola getting slightly darker and wider and my nipple shrinking just a bit and also the ribs under my breast were sore. I thought I could see the breast hanging a bit lower that the other. I didn't think they were such big changes to make another appointment. About a month ago I noticed a dimple at 3 o'clock next to the nipple. It's only a subtle one that I can see my arm raised about half an inch. Right next to it is something that looks like a stretch mark - arrow shaped white lines that point to the dimple. I can also see a bit of swelling on the ribs under the breast and feel uncomfortable, slight pain but nothing serious. I have had to get a bigger bra though it is uncomfortable to wear. I have put on a couple of healthy kilos, nothing too much, and wonder could that be causing all this. The breast still hangs lower and is a bit largwe than the other and kind of covering the sore swollen ribs.

All the symptoms are slight and light nothing too severe to make me an appointment right away. But still enough to make me worry. Will have my check up in a couple of weeks. The fibroadenoma hasn't changed size and it is at 6 o'clock so I doubt that it is causing this.

I know I might be worrying too much but I would love to hear what you think.

Good you having it checked. Better be safe. We aren’t physicians but some of us have had similar symptoms that resulted in a specific DX. I’m one of those people

I did have the symptom you cited about one breast larger than the other and in fact that’s what prompted my doctor to do further testing after my annual mammogram. For me it was IDC breast cancer but that doesn’t mean yours is. I had also lost weight rather quickly which I thought was due to my avoiding sugar. In retrospect it was an early sign of my cancer.

There are probably a myriad of things it could be and I wouldn’t even hazard a guess. I know you are worried but try to keep busy and not dwell on it or read too much on the internet. That will definitely make you more anxious.

One thing I’ve learned about BC is it’s not one size, fits all.

Btw I am 7 years out this month.

Keep the faith and keep us posted.

    Thank you for replying Diane!

I am wondering if your size difference was obvious or only subtle? I mean like when you see those IBC pictures where the cancer breast is significantly larger.
