Hi, just recieved my pathology report and was diagnosed with DCIS. Was told the dr referred me to the cancer center for surgery. Now waiting for them to call me. I'm so nervous and scared.

Hi Sunshine!
Sorry for the reason you’re joining us, but you’re in a good place here.
I had DCIS as well. Everyone’s experience is a little different and tailored to you, which is a good thing. After my diagnosis I had an MRI done to help decide if I wanted a lumpectomy or mastectomy (which ended up choosing to do both) and to just get one more view on things before surgery.
This first part is the hardest and a lot of info will be coming your way. Once a plan is in place things get easier. We’ll be here for you through it all. Hugs

I was diagnosed with DCIS earlier this year too. It has definitely taken an emotional toll on me, but I did get through it. Do you have a strong emotional support system - family, friends? They were the best for me, and finding new friends here and other places. Best wishes to yiy

so sorry you’re here. I know how scary it is. I was there 1.5 years ago, but, I too made it. You will too, I promise. Hang on, it’s not the easiest ride, but it’s definitely not the hardest either. You’ve got this.

I just received a copy of pathology report and it says nuclear grade 2,estrogen and e-cadherin positive and atypical ductal proliferation with cribiform architecture. I haven't a clue. Does this mean its stage 2 dcis, and do I need chemotherapy?
-
As long as you have pure DCIS and it hasn't become IDC you are stage 0 and would not need chemo. If you have a lumpectomy you will also have radiation. If you have a mastectomy then probably no radiation. Since you are ER positive they will probably prescribe tamoxifen or an AI.
Grade 2 means it's not a super slow grower but it's not aggressive. I read e-cadherin positive is an indicator it's idc(DCIS) vs ilc(lcis
I know this is super scary but it's only because you don't know what's going on yet. Quick little surgery, short recovery, a tiny pill every day and you can put this thing in your rear view mirror.

so confused!!! I was told by my ob/gyn and the breast center my pathology showed dcis, and was referred to the cancer center. Went today and was told that just because I have atypical ductal hyperplasia and positive estrogen markers does not mean its Dcis! This week has been a rollercoaster. I now have to have a lumpectomy on the 20th. I asked about radiation and she said she cant say I need that till after the lumpectomy. How can a dr and breast center say that.. the oncologist said that maybe they were preparing me. Wth!!
