Confused and Anxious
Hey, So I am also waiting for my biopsy results and am so confused!! And mad. I had my biopsy done as a surprise last week, Tuesday. Prior to that I had a 3rd Mammo and also a Ultrasound of my right breast, (They saw something in my left breast but doing my right one, IDK). My Mammo and ultrasound came back as "ASSESMENT- High suspicion of Malignancy".
Ok I got really nervous like "omg what does that mean?" So. I have this abnormally enlarged mass in my axillary lymph node, 4.1x3.6 cm in size. I have this sever pain all the time in my arms, chest, shoulders, breast and sharp shooting pain in my nipples that hurt so bad I just yell out in pain!!! So long story short. I went on my patient portal and received another test result of my biopsy!!! I almost passed out because I am in shock. What? Really? No one can call me but they can send an email of test results. I was confused. Anyway. I opened it and it said " "Impression: Technically successful ultrasound guided biopsy......" The rest of the information was of other things that had nothing to do with results like Narrative, History, Consent etc, etc.
Now, I am totally confused and mad that I don't now what is going on and I can't get anybody on the phone because it is the 4th of July holiday and the offices have closed early and won't be open tomorrow..... I am really mad. Trying and praying especially for patients.
So even though today was my result day and I was anxiously looking forward to some answers I have to wait 2 more days. I feel if they can email me why didn't someone call me? I mean I've been calling since Monday with no call backs. So I just don't know, I just don't know! SMH!
I feel for everyone going thru the suspense of "what is my results" and hope you don't go thru what I am experiencing. Anxiety.
Have a great week everyone.

Ugh! It's awful when holidays get in the way of our labs & tests.
I suspect your sample is now at the pathologist's office and awaiting examination. All they entered into the computer was the info about collecting the sample...
So stressful waiting. Hang in there. -
Is it possible that you are seeing a us report related to a biopsy? Maybe the actual pathology report isn't available but they reported on the us guided biopsy.
Whatever the case try to stay calm. I'm told the waiting is the hardest part, and so far that is true. I had an us guided biopsy today...I won't rest until I get the results....
-
Sounds like you are seeing the procedure report which is not the same as the pathology report, which would be the biopsy results. I imagine they will call you before releasing the results on to the portal.
-
Ken1018- I agree with the others that what you see on the portal is just the procedure report. You will meet with a doctor to discuss your pathology report. I know the waiting is hard, I had three biopsies a week apart before I learned of my diagnosis. Stay strong and best wishes for a clean report

Thanks everyone! I appreciate your reassuring words. And encouragement!! I will be more patient. Just so much at stake for me. I am a caregiver to my dad who suffers with Dementia/Alzheimer's and I have a 16 year old who knows everything and I know nothing (crazy kid! Love him to pieces) My sister and I care for my dad who needs us 24/7. I am not about to leave everything on het. So I'm stressed by this situation. For more than 1 reason. I
Thx y'all πβΊβΊ

Hi everyone! I went on my patient portal last night and my Component Results were there. From the Pathologist. I'm still not clear on it. It looks like I DO NOT have cancer. YAY π±π³ππππ πβΊ. However, I am not clear on what it is. I went on line to get an explanation of the results. It seems it's not clear and from the sampling they did it was too small. I may need to do it over.
But it said: Atypical lymphoid tissue, flow cytometry negative for lymphoproliferative disorder. Also the findings suggest a paracortical hyperplasia. And some other findings do not explain the enlarged lymph node or the mass. So I was like HUHπ???? .It also said if strong clinical concerns remain, consider additional sampling with more tissue. That's why I said I may have to do it over. Hhmmm!
So I called my doctor and still didn't get a call back. I'm getting really upset. I'm praying. Will be at it again tmrw. I

Oh wow! Now that I am reading your experience, I think my online "results" must be the procedure report as well. It's so confusing since at least for me, it was called "Study Result" but this does make me feel a little more at ease. Thank you for sharing your experience! And, I'm sorry that there is something more for you to deal with health wise but am very happy for you it's not cancer!! Will be thinking of you. xo

MCF89 Thank you. I feel that our doctors shouldn't be putting us through all this agony. I had to call the center I went to (a hospital) then I had to call my doctors office. Y??!! I have to go thru this craziness to get test results?
I finally had an appointment to meet with my doctor to go over my results. Long frustrating story short, I need to have my biopsy done over and I need to see a breast surgeon or specialist. I'm still confused to be honest with you all, I need clarity and answers. I have too many questions.
Thank you everyone for your support and knowledge, it means a lot to me.
Have a great week.

So I saw a breast surgeon today and she said I need another Ultrasound in my Axillary. Since my biopsy came back benign she wants to make sure it's not in the lymph node. And to determine if she needs to "pull" it or not.
I had to ask what that meant. Basically it will have to come out. But she won't know until I get another Ultrasound then another biopsy. Bummer.
I'll be back to update you.
Stay strong everyone! π

mcf89. Hi.
How did your results go for you? Hope everyone is strong! Be back with updates.

Ken--just an FYI--there really is no "biopsy" of the lymph nodes, like taking out a chunk to examine. They have to remove the whole lymph node to test it. As my BS said, it's really a lymph-node-ectomy.
-
Ingerp!
Really?! I didn't know that. See that's what I mean. When you ask questions it's because you don't know.
So there is no biopsy for your lymph node. Huh! It needs to come out. But. Why or how would they take it out if they can't test it first? What if the lymph node don't need to come out? Like....ok I'm understanding but not at the same time. If that makes any sense.
But thx. I will rephrase my questions to the doctors.
Great info.!! ππ

Hmm, you can get a fine needle biopsy of a node. I had a fine needle biopsy of a suspicious node which turned out to be cancerous. But, it is true that they typically won't do a core biopsy of a node. Hope this helps!

Just had to jump in here Ken1018 and say yes they do biopsy lymph nodes. Usually needle. My DH has had it two different times. US guided. First one of a few lymph nodes confirmed they had cancer prior to MX. He had a biopsy another time to confirm crossover mets on opposite side. He had chemo again and they monitored that lymph node for effect as it was still there. I watched both and it was pretty quick and easy (yes I know it wasn't me-but after he was done he drove us out to dinner I think.) Good luck.
-
Oh!! Ok! I understand. It's the type of biopsy that can be performed.
Thank you all for your information! βΊ
Have a great week and be strong! ππ»

I had my biopsy and was told high risk atypical ductal hyperplasia, well I was referred to the oncologist because I have so many groups of clusters of microcalcifications, I went to see her and was scheduled for a lumpectomy because it was such a high Adh,with estrogen positive, well my surgery is scheduled for Monday morning, she called me today and said her and the team of drs reviewed the previous pathology and said I have very high risk adh and some cells showing dcis but in the biopsy the dcis is only measuring 1 mm. She said I have 8 cm of microcalcifications and is concerned that it will show more dcis. She asked if I considered a mastectomy if these results from mondays surgery comes back malignant, I said yes. What do you think my chances are? And can it come back even after mastectomy with reconstruction? I said I would only do mastectomy and want no reconstructive surgery.
-
Wow!! Sunshine1970. That sounds like a lot! I have no clue what all those terms mean but I hope that your team comes up with a solution for you. I pray for the Best for you. I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you.

I will continue to pray for everyone in this forum as this has been the worst several months ever! I can imagine how much worse it is for those of you whose test didn't come back good.
