Notverybrave, I am wondering if your pain went away because you are not on Tamoxifen currently. When I had my break, God did I feel great! Energy, no weird pains and now back to low energy/weakness and pain. Almost ready to throw in the towel and take my chances....almost or maybe do what you plan to do a lower dose. I have even switched brands.

I will preface my comments with ‘I support all yr decisions in treatment’. Because I definitely do! I’m just curious, I have a link somewhere regarding this....

when does grade one become grade two? What k67 number changes the grade of the tumor from grade 1 to grade 2? I’m assuming it has to do with the k67 number.

The reason I ask is I was 9%prolif rate. And chose no tamoxifen. My oncologist was fine with me not doing tamoxifen or radiation. As long as I see him. Currently seeing him every 6 mo. And diagnostic every 6 mo.

Altho my tumor was 3-4 mm. Stage 1a so very early. So maybe that’s why he was ok with no tamoxifen or rads. Course they (surgeon and oncologist) told me the suggested route. But tumor was close to my heart. I didn’t want to risk my heart. Even with new techniques. And didn’t want to take tamoxifen. Seems like a lot of people have se.

recurrence rate didn’t change awhole lot it seemed with or without those options for me. But maybe that was because of stage

Sorry for the book. Just wondering....

Wow that’s a long time to go without period. I would have thought that was confirmation of menopause! Mine have been on again off. Lol. I keep thinking I wonder if premenopausal status is what causes breast cancer. Or one of the causes. Seems like an awful lot of us here are premenopausal. Just wondering about that

I know, when will everything not be cancer! I have a sinus infection which appears to be also on the root ends on one back molar. The pain is awful for about a week. Pressure tooth pain headache. I finally saw the specialist she is going to attempt a root canal tomorrow. She mentioned that the tooth may need to be removed if not successful. I feel like crying, I don't want to lose my tooth. It reminds me of having the mastectomy. I will if I have to but I still can't help reliving the horror of cancer. She did a pet scan bones look good just looks infected and swollen. Antibiotics didn't seem to help amoxicillin now she prescribed augmentum. Wish me luck.

meow: ohh that’s horrible!! I’m so sorry to hear what’s going on with your tooth! I hope all goes well and you don’t have to loose the tooth. What about getting a second opinion before she pulls the tooth? Maybe it’s saveable??

    Hoping she’s wrong

I think she is going to do her best tomorrow and if the tooth is too damaged underneath the crown she will stop. Then we will make more plans. I will be taking an antibiotic for another 10 days. I think she said if the tooth needs to come out they can put in an implant, that would be done at another time. I feel pretty emotional.

I quit the Tamoxifen because I felt so horrible in body and mind at the time. The body part I was fairly certain was a direct result of the drug, but the mind part ... not so sure. We experience so many things at once - I had recovery from chemo and BMX, changes in hormones (chemo stopped my periods with sudden menopause symptoms), normal aging, and common aches and pains of life.

I'm probably more cavalier about not being on Tamoxifen because I had a pCR and a BMX. Not that those make me immune to recurrence - I still carry a small risk and Tamoxifen still drops that by almost 50%. And I knew I'd kick myself if I didn't do what was advised and it came back.

My planned attempt at low dose is my way of "something is better than nothing" and there is some research on that. Just waiting until maybe September ...

I think yr plan and what you’ve done for treatment is all good. I hope sept all goes perfectly well.

Each persons experience with breast cancer is pretty unique. It’s so interesting to me how ea tumor altho maybe the same kind even, the experience and dx can be different from one person to the next. I think even docs recommend different things from doc to doc.

It’s very interesting but we are all in this together for sure! And I’m so thankful for other ‘sisters’ who have ‘been there’

    Have a great day!!

Thank you everyone for good thoughts. The procedure was a success, she was able to get thru the calcification and see tooth was in good shape and she cleared all 4 roots. No tooth extraction necessary.

Now my face feels like I have been punched but I think the infection will clear with the new antibotic. No reason to associate cancer mets or anything. Good vibes to all of you going in for scans.

A bit late, but yes, MuddlingThrough, I read her story and it brought tears to my eyes. Whatever people might say, there is progress in cancer research and I just wish these treatments were widely available now.

I am so glad that I am not the only one who thinks every little twitch is cancer. I asked my oncologist about it and he said what pupmom said - if it is over two weeks tell him about it.

I mostly just read on this website. And my few posts are for various reasons. Just want to say... I know that it is an accident that I was born a woman, but most of what I read makes me proud to be one.
