What time frame am I looking at with average bmx and Diep flap reconstruction? As everyone should know very well on this forum how much mammo techs use their arms and lift in our work. As well as abdominal muscles and back. I already have alot if back issues that I have to take pain medication for while I'm working. Best and worse case scenario on timing? I'm still waiting to get scheduled for lumpectomy..surgeon said prob first of September even though she didn't like the looks of the spiculated mass in my breast! Bmx and reconstruction would be after I'm healed from the lumpectomy. And I also drive 40 miles one way to work. The waiting is so much harder than I ever imagined! Thx in advance!

    hello :)

I'm now 5 weeks post op double mastectomy DIEP flap reconstruction. I feel great but not 100% yet. I started back to work one day last week but I sit at a desk mostly. I started at 8am and by 2pm I felt done. But I'm improving every day....

For your type of job I think you will need 6 weeks off at least. There is a lot of lifting and use of arms. I think part time at 6 weeks would be do-able. I guess if you felt better by 5 weeks you could try it out. The core belly muscles is what is going to be limiting.

    Good luck!

Thank you! That's what I'm worried about. We do patients every 15 minutes all day. It's pretty non stop and wheel chair patients occasionally. I just don't know how it's all gonna work out.
