Pain Pain Pain 2nd time in 20's
Hello Everyone,
I am 29 year old and facing severe condition right now. In 2014 when i was 25 year old i was diagnosed with IDC stage 1. Because of my age i went through really aggresive treatment AC, Radio and lumpectomy. I was doing fine and got married in early 2018 me and my husband really wanted to have child and we were trying from last 3 months. All of the sudden i felt simple nipple discharge and very mild rash on my same breast i went to dermatologist and apllied some cream for about 1 month and then i waited for another one month i a hope that it will go away. Then i went to breast surgeon after biopsy he confirmed it as cancer..i have done bone scan /CT scan they went back fine. but on my PET/Ct on node in my other side of cancer lit up and upon biopsy doctor confirmed cancer. However according to recent studies he said its regional reccurance and put me on stage three. I had mastectomy of my cancer side and ALND on other side which confirms 1.4 cm tumor grade 2 in breeast and 2/9 positive lymph nodes on other side. i wanted to have baby but surgeon said after second time chemo he thinks i will not be able to get pregnant ever again. I am broken in tears. Feeling so bad for my poor husband ![]()

Sunshine, I'm so sorry you have to deal with this sh!! so young. I am a recurrence survivor 10/14 nodes. I was a one and done kid anyhow but I'm so sorry you probably won't get the chance. I hope you find peace and something, some way presents itself whether thru a surrogate, adoption, fostering or the love of being and aunt. You are important, loved, and catching and fighting this disease before it spread is hard, but you gave yourself and your husband a great chance to be here a long long time and will live to have many adventures and pursposes. Its so hard to see that now. I hope your husband is the kind of person mine is, and he reassures you that there had to be a YOU before a child. It's not the life you planned but it will be a good life. I'm sorry - but we are here for you and want to will you through this. You hang in there!!! As many have said to me...gentle, loving ((( hugs )))

@7of9 thank you so so much for the lovely reply. I am feeling better now. And i hope i can fight it again and i will be fine. Thanks God its not spread yet and its giving me chance to be cured...i will talk to my doctor if i can freez eggs now because i am getting regular periods and i am pretty much sure i am ovulating too. Because i had left temoxfin 6 months before for getting pregnant. I really hope i do have this option.

I am s so sorry for the totally cruel unfair amount of suffering life has thrown at you. 7 of 9 is right you are so important worthwhile and loved for yourself. Deal with that first and I pray the world comes back into your hands with many rich possibilities and happier futures after. I am so hoping for much better luck for you.

Hi Sunshine89, how are you feeling? Any new developments? I'm also young and am in treatment for a recurrence - now "locally advanced" disease. I love what 7of9 said - it's not what we planned, but it'll be a good life! Anyway, I'm wishing you the best as you go through the next steps.

Hey Sunshine,
Ask your doctor about putting you on zoladex prior to chemo, it shuts down your ovaries temporarily and is supposed to have a protective effect. Trials have shown it's pretty effective. I've also read that women on the lower side of 40 and particularly if you are 29 will have a much better chance of your reproductive system starting up again after treatment.
Otherwise yes look into fertility options (embryo or egg preservation), your doctor should offer you this as a young woman.
I was dx at 34 and also didnt have kids. I went down the frozen embryo route and hope to use them next year. Good luck.

@SSInUK thank you so much. I am feeling very much positive now. I really hope i can fight it again. Keep me in you prayers.
@buttonsmachine 3 weeks back i got surgery left mastectomy with diep flap reconstruction and skin graft. and right ALND. Tomorrow on friday 17 august will be my first chemotherapy. and chemotherapy i will get radiation on right side whole breast lymph nodes etc. Though there is no evidence of cancer in my right breast but for safe side may b. My cancer is also locally advanced. I really hope and pray we both are dealing with it for the last time.
@sophiemara unfortunately i couldn't freez my eggs because i was not having much time i didnt want to late my chemo. However doctor gave my Lupron injection shot and i will be getting it every month to shut down my overies during chemo. I really hope and pray it works. :
