this week was to have port placement on Wednesday but surgeon was unable to do it. Said either I have small veins or abnormal anatomy. So I’m scheduled next Friday for interventional radiologist to do it. Anyone else? Details on what to expect?

Yesterday-Thursday. Had first chemo - first IV went yucky. Second one much better. Benadryl kept me a sleep. An uneventful day - I tolerated all meds well. Staying ahead with nausea meds. Other thank some face flushing a little sleepy. Does this mean I might not have bad side effect? I’m wearing the on body injector for Neulasta and started Claritin for tha

    Hi Jimiwithani,

I'm sorry you had to reschedule your port placement.  I had mine put in by interventional radiology, and it went well.  I took a Xanax before I went in, and they were great.  I was awake and other than the numbing shots, I just felt pressure.

I had my first chemo, too.  I'm ahead on my meds, so far.  The Decadron has me up non-stop and terribly shaky, but otherwise I'm doing well, so far.  I had the injector and take Claritin as well.  I hope this maintains for all of us.  ::Gentle Hugs::

I had my port put in 2 weeks ago. My neck was sore from the internal jugular access but that was it. IR will throw that port in no problem.

I had my first chemo on Monday. My hardest days were Wednesday and Thursday last week. The Neulasta bone discomfort started a couple of days after the injection with my femur/right knee then my iliac crests. I’m on AC for 3 more treatments then taxol for 4 treatments, every other week.

    Best wishes to al

An interventional radiologist put mine in. As far as I know it went fine.

I don't think I can get the Neulasta auto injector but it might be just as well as the idea that this thing was going to jab a needle in to me at some point would probably cause me some degree of anxiety. I need to know exactly when it's going to stick me.

I was scheduled to have port placement tomorrow by interventional radiologist they called and rescheduled it for August 22 the day prior to chemo #2. Also the radiologist wants me to have a CT scan of the chest next Tuesday- any thoughts on what that is for? Veins, Arteries or cancer
