Thank you Minus 2 and Vargadoll Can you tell me who makes lymph-0 fit?I have not seen this one online at any of the sites. I just ordered the wearease cami but will look into the belisse ,sydney bra and any others that have worked well for any on you. Medicare does help pay for some of the expense but the 2 places locally that sell compression garments don't carry belisse and have a limited selection.. I am really bummed out about this but I will just have to cope.I had no idea this was a potential consequence of my surgery and radiation as no provider ever even mentioned it. I was DX only because I mentioned to the Oncologists NP that my breast has been warm to the touch from the get go and even after almost 2 months post rads, was still swollen. Luckily, she listened, TOOK ONE LOOK AND sent me to a lymphedema specialist. So Iv'e been reading all I can about it and have accepted the fact that my braless days are over! OK, enough whining ; it could be worse! have a good rest of the weekend everyone.
Hugsz-I walk 2 miles a day so I guess that counts as cardio. doesn't it?
-
FlowerGirl - look on this thread on 7/25 for a picture of the bra Varga is talking about.

Yeah to all those joining me. Indoors, outdoors wherever just do it. Any kind of moving! Yes Flower two miles rocks it. The key to this is having a exercise schedule in our lives.
I know some are so busy with life's dealyboppers but it's great if you can post even once a week letting all know your on track and it encourages us also! Vargadoll you certainly have a lot on your plate and it's not food either! We know you will post when you can.
Binney I may switch up my days to but 5 for sure! I must say I like my weekends exercise free. It's like a reward.
Flower, very little time is spent in med sch on the 2nd largest circulatory system-lymph. Including MO. Rad docs. Surprising to see NP knowledgeable. Yes we are moving slowly forward in medical field. I vote wearease though it's not my most perfect fit the company is fabulous and the material is nice. I think mine is called slimmer 960 or 970
Minus looks like your our exercise guru. That's s lot of exercise. Glad to have you encourage us by moving faithfully. Mom is great but she was busy telling me today how to do dishes. I just stared at her in her over 90 degree house and said nicely. I don't know if you remember this but I get a pension check ma! Hee hee
-
Hugz - love the 'ma' story. Thanks for sharing.
-
Hey all, knocked off my half hour walk. Got that out of way now back into daily stuff
Minus thinking of you in cold pool sounds right up my alley! Me want pool bad.
Minus. Your parents were so fortunate to have you watch over them. It takes patience and dedication to pull off so many years of caregiving.
Lol, mom just swatted a wasp flat dead with one stroke when it landed on her pancakes. Wow... I don't have reflexes like that. I'm practically blind when I try and hit a fly. When she killed it, I said let me go flush him in down the toilet. She said yah..... drown him good! Yes we have our cute moments together but actually she is a lot of work! She keeps me hopping! Going home today so I can rest up from mom.
-
Hugz- I did order a wearaease slimmer cami to hopefully sleep better at night since the one I wear now doesn't fit well with the swell pad and is very uncomfortable.
Minus thanks for the link I will check it out.
Now it's time to do my boob exercises!
So glad I found this web site and the community!

Did row and treadmill half hour but this heat has slowed me down today. So lazy today...Left it too late. Should have woke up earlier. One more day and I’ve completed my 30/30 July challenge only missing one day. I consider this a success given it was so hot.
Are we all ready for 5/2 challenge. Coming anyday. Aug1st! You can even do as little as 5 min as long as it’s 5 days a week, what ever your capable of. Report in when you can. No pressure
Strap on runners/don bathers/ play outside with kids. Whatever just move five days a week.
-
I spent 2 hours in our pool with my 3 year old grandson. He kept me busy! According to my fitbit I have over 10 miles in yesterday and that's not counting all the laps I did in the pool! No wonder I'm losing weight!
-
The 5/2 challenge sounds good. I just got out of the hospital yesterday due to cellulitis and sepsis. Headed back to PT next week to get the right arm calmed down again. I had never had cellulitis before. This one took off like wildfire. I felt fine in morning, and by 3 pm, the arm was swollen and my temp was rising so I headed of to ER. They traced around it when I arrived at ER and by next hour, it had doubled. I had 3 days of IV vancomycin and now oral antibiotics. They cultured strep from the blood, but so far, the heart echo looked okay and I was released yesterday with no restrictions. I am going to give my body a week to heal before heading back to water aerobics as I have numerous new holes in me now from all the IV's and bloodwork. So I will be walking initially, then back to a combo of walking and water aerobics. Work starts back up in a week...hard to believe another school year is upon us already.
-
Varg. My oh my your active!
Laurel bummer. So glad u went to emerg and waiting for pricks to heal. What brought it on. I’m Leary about lakes and bacteria but do go for swims occasionally in them. Yes do jump in for challenge but first proceed with caution when you think your ready.
-
Hugs, I got a small sliver of plastic in my index finger at VBS Tuesday night. Got it out, washed it out, and thought nothing more as it looked to be healing. Friday it all exploded. Luckily, caught it quickly and even though the strep had spread into the bloodstream, I never got terribly ill, just sore arm and swelling. Basically hung out at hospital to be monitored and to get antibiotic IV twice a day. Looking forward to hearing from all of you as we go through August.
-
My first report is that I blew off the last day of July. Yes I went to water aerobics Monday, but I did nothing today except doze & read. Sigh!! I think some of the aches & pains and the fever is still hanging on from my Prolia shot last week. Anyway -
So tomorrow evening I will start the August 5/2 challenge with water aerobics for an hour - half cardio & half stretches.
-
laurel oh dear. Slivers are the worst. This last year I got graphite slivers in le hand. Went to emerg they said so tiny to find we would do more damage hunting for them. You basically can’t get them out. They are the worst kind to get. There still in there but scar tissue has grown over them and they don't hurt. But I was watchful for cellulitis after it happen. Ugh...I need to be a indoor girl...I'm also accident prone!
Minus. I couldn't get up this morn to walk either. I slept till 10:30, not like me...usually 8amish type of girl in the summer. The heat wave is over and me and dog are heading out now. Minus....Tomorrow is another day. Scarlett o'hara says! Well just keep on trying cause Scarlett's is right. See you at the 5/2 Challenge tomorrow!!!
-
No pool today. We're having some rainy weather. I did get 5 miles in but I sure do miss my laps in the pool. I feel the laps in the pool are what's whipping me into shape. Flexitouch pumping now so this is a voice message LOL
-
Hey gang! I’m in. I don’t know what I’ll be doing, but count me in for the 5/2 challenge. Lordy somebody keep me accountable or I’ll just stop when I get bust
-
Count me in for the 5/2 challenge! I'm ready!
-
Got in a 35 minute walk today before the heat and humidity started to climb. I am missing my water aerobics, but plan to start back there next Monday. It's always more fun to exercise with a crowd. I am back to wearing compression sleeve again at least for awhile, translated means going to battle with UHC again to get them to pay for them. I use the Solidea sleeve that attaches to the other arm with a half sleeve, and they are not an approved product. It doesn't matter that they have proven to be the best product for me and get the job done without causing shoulder and trunk swelling. Last time I put through for insurance to cover them, it took me 3 denials and 3 appeals before I could get them to pay, at which point it was already the next quarter.
-
Ok got my treadmill in today
-
Made it through an hour of water aerobics - about half cardio half stretching.
-
Laural, brava for knowing what to do about that cellulitis and actually doing it! Glad you're doing so well now.
The August Challenge--yes! Got in my 30-minute fast walk this evening (almost forgot it was the 1st of August, to be honest, but then my daughter reminded me the dogs needed their monthly heartworm meds so I knew I'd better deliver on my determination to spend August being more active than July). Can't say I like being a sweaty mess, but that can't be avoided this time of year, even if I'm walking indoors. But I have to say that smug feeling that takes over when I've accomplished some exercise is a real boost!
Onward!
Binney -
Binney - "smug" is exactly the feeling!
-
Good job minus. I'm just looking out window. It's cloudy but clearing. If I don't get out soon I'll be cooking my butt off in the coming sun.
Binney I did laugh out loud when I read your word “smug". It's a perfect word for when your all done and feeling great with accomplishing exercise. It just might be our 5/2 challenge catch word. I need to go out soon for walkso I too can feel “smuggish"!!!!
Nice DD coaches you! I need her here on west coast. Aren't kids great!
Laurel. You get five stars for catching cellulitis beast early. Your spot on! I guess your posting a cellulitis challenge this month on “who can catch cellulitis the earliest" it's not a calorie burning type of challenge but a keep on your toes type of challenge. I'm in! Ok I've got antibiotics in my med drawer and ready to play the game. I'm examining all my affected le body parts every morn! But I don't want dang cellulitis, no way!
Ok I’m out the door. No DD to encourage me today so I will just look at dog and say the words. Leash up! He will jump me into action but quick!
-
30 minute walk in while waiting for a friend to join me for lunch...hot and humid here, but compression sleeve on anyways. Thank goodness for portable fans at my house (only have AC in bedroom). Doctor was pleased with the progress of my arm with most of the discoloration gone and swelling going down day by day. PT appointment Monday. My Fitbit is happy today with this 5/2 challenge. Hugz, hoping that the cellulitis game has no participants this month as the fun is fully missing.
-
Good exercise job Laurel. Lol on cellulitis participation.
Ok dog is intently watching me put on sports socks and he knows next word is leash up.
-
Back from 40 min walk. Feeling rather smug about it!
For 5/2 challenge. To describe exercise accomplishment the word is SMUG. Different levels of smug to.
Smug - no dscription needed
Wee bit smug.
Rather smug.
Overly smug.
SMUG in caps to emphasize extra good feeling.
Smuggish instead of snobbish
-
Hello all, I'm walking my 2 miles a day .It was SO nice the last 2 days I even worked out in the yard for an hour without my boob swelling! I saw my PCP yesterday and gave him a little education on breast lymphedema -now he knows about swell spots, self manual drainage and kinisio taping.
Varga- I got the wearease cami but it was too big so I'll have to try a size smaller. but I think I will like it. It is nice and soft.
Laural, hope you are doing better.
Have a nice weekend and happy exercising.
-
flower. Good for you for educating doc. Hopefully he’ll spread the word with his other doc friends.
Well if you walking 2 miles a day you would be SMUG feeling about getting it done. Hooray
-
Ladies, yesterday was busy with Meals on Wheels, grandkids, dentist appointment for my DD and I kept the 3 y/o and 17 month old. So I never got to post yesterday. I ran around like crazy and had over 23,000 steps. It has been nonstop rain for 2 days! I had to get my cardio on the treadmill tonight. I have almost 20,000 steps and I ran 1.5 miles. I hope the ran let's up soon. I'm use to being in the pool for my cardio everyday!
So I'm just smug....I want to feel SMUG! The rain is supposed to be moving out tomorrow but I bet the pool will be freezing! We haven't been out of the 70's in 2 days!
-
I’m going to count today as my day off. Sat in a school leadership team meeting for 4 hours the. Went to lunch the the bottom fell out and the rain just won’t stop. I’m so tired of rain. Every day for 2 weeks. I’m over it. And the flooding. My poor yard will be 3 feet high before it’s dry enough to cut when the rains stop
-
TaRenee - hey girl! I didn't know you had LE!! I agree with you in the rain! If what we have going on is heading your way tomorrow will be nasty! Lots of rivers and creeks out of there banks now and several roads are closed.
