My sis is 9years out and NED. She was Stage III automatically with Inflammatory Breast Cancer. Chemo, rads and some nodes. She's doing well. Went back to school for LPN, saw her eldest daughter get married, have baby, first grandchild is turning 2 Sunday. Keep the faith.

My first thoughts are that if they had found something wrong they would have called you today with another plan for monday... I strongly belive this is positive!

I am almost done with chemo. I was diagnosed with a large tumor and a positive node in February. The mammogram showed 11 cm of calcifications. My PET scan confirmed that most of this is cancer. I've had 2 pet scans, a ct scan and a bone scan so far-- all clear of mets. My oncologist said only 5% of newly diagnosed are stage 4.
Stay strong. It's going to be okay. You will adjust to this new norm. It is horrifying and I'm sorry you are here. But life is beautiful. It will get better
Look for support right now. Ask your center if there are support groups or breast cancer support coordinators.
Ask for meds if you are struggling. Ativan and Lexapro calmed me down in the beginning.
My kids are 11, 9 & 3. I can't leave them either.
Hugs to you!

Delittemann...I was diagnosed with Stage 3; Grade 3 BC. Multilayer, multifocal (whatever that means).
Positive margins...3 lymph nodes - one was bursting with cancer. It seemed like the news - just kept getting worse. Mine was large - too - nearly 7 cm. With LOTS of calcification.
My DD was 9 at the time. I've had the CT and bone scan - done - all clear of mets.
I did bilateral mastectomies, chemo and radiation. Yes - I lost my hair - but - I bought a great wig (I think it looked better than my hair...lol). And, am planning my 3rd and final stage of breast reconstruction.
I starting going to the gym and working out - about a year ago and it's the best part of my day!! :-) And - my hair did grow back!!! (got rid of the wig).
I'm only 2 years out - but - I want to give you - HOPE. There are many ladies - who are much further out than I am. I mean - like over 15 years out. And, they are - not just doing well and healthy - but - they are thriving.
Sending you ((((hugs)))))

Prior to my lumpectomy, my doctor thought I would be stage 1. It was quite a shock to find that I was in fact stage 3 with macro-metastatic carcinoma in my nodes (essentially big pieces of cancer in the nodes). I had ACT, radiation, and an oophorectomy. I was on Arimedex for a couple years but my WBC begin to drop. I'm now on Letrozole. Overall I tolerate Letrozole so much better - no bone pain or joint swelling I continue to stay active and follow the dietary recommendations from my cancer center. I'm a couple week's away from being 4 years out and NED - yay!!! Praying for you!

2.5 yrs out from 10/14 nodes recurrence. NED or stage 3c...not sure. Clean scans and waiting for green light on nipple recon. Exercise and keep your mind busy with a craft, hobby or excellent TV show in the evening. Stay off the internet (like I am right now) LOL at night. God bless you!

2004 stage 3 b. One positive node they say.NED,watch alcohol, exercise like mad, keep weight down. Eat good. You will be fine. I just wanted to have my grade 7er graduate in my presence. She did and I'm here to tell the story. Keep busy and don't dwell on statistics because each person fits s dufferent shoe. I should have been gone many years ago with my hockey puck size tumor but I'm still HERE

thank u both for those uplifting stories. So happy you are both doing well. Thank you again. Helps so much to hear the positive stories. On tues I will be half way through my chemo. Half way! Very happy about that.

I'm happy to say that yes! It's possible. I had a relatively small tumor 1.8cm at widest point but 13/20 positive axillary nodes. I also had extracapulation where a few nodes had ruptured, lymphovascular involevement and DCIS to boot. I just saw my Onc today and scans were clear. No spread! Hooray!!! I get to stay Stage IIIA. XD
