Did anyone else switch to a different chemo halfway thru
and if yes, was it worse than first half? I'm so afraid. Thrilled at my next appt to be halfway but then my chemo changes. It's much longer appts too. I pray it's not worse.

Well, mine was changed at the 3rd cycle and it required a bolus dose for 3 of the chemo drugs, so it was a bit tough on the side effects. Infact it was worse than my 1st chemo, but after that I was fine for the next 4 cycles.

I had 4 a/c as planned, then switched to taxotere as planned.
-
and did u find it more difficult to handle than first 4

Hi Dlittkemann,
If you dont mind me asking what chemo were you on? And why is it changing? Was it part of the treatment plan
-
She posted before it's AC+T
dlittkemann, are you doing dose dense taxol x 4 or weekly taxol x 12? Either way, you might want to read the weekly taxol thread. Side effects are similar on both, though the dose dense tends to have slightly stronger side effects than the weekly but you'll get a sense of what people are reporting and how they cope with them.
Generally speaking *most* people find the taxol portion a bit easier than the AC. -
hi Moth
Yes thank you, that is my current treatment and it's every 2 weeks then taxol also every 2 weeks. I've read horror stories w taxol and I'm so scared. Any input on how others did with it would be so much appreciated (((hugs))) thank you in advance.

Hello D
I had four cycles of FEC followed by four cycles of Taxotere+Herceptin combined.
The oncologist switched me to 80% of T+P as I couldn't tolerate the full dose.
Six years later...here I am.
Good luck!

I had dose dense Taxol. It was much better to tolerate than A/C. That was my experience.

thank u for the reply. Great to hear

oh so nice to hear Shell. Hoping I'm like u and it's not easier than this part.

I did DD AC followed by 12 weekly Taxol. Monday was Taxol 10. I did find Taxol easier after AC. There was no downtime like on AC and I could go back to being a mum from day 1. However, things have been a bit difficult since num 9 as I have increasing fatigue and pain in my fingers.
Taxol did not make me feel nauseaus and my acidity probs also subsided. I now take omeprazole on and off. Taste was back for the first few weeks, now both taste and appetite are gone. I feel Taxol effects are more cumulative. Since you will be on DD Taxol there will be somethings that will be different than the weekly ones, but hey you will be done 4 weeks earlier than us 12 weekly ladies.
Hope you have an easy time on Taxol

OK, I did the 4 a/c. Wasn’t a picnic in the park. But I got through it. Switched to taxotere. MO said it would be easier. Was scheduled for 4 infusions. I had to be special and start a severe allergic reaction to it before I got out of the office. I only had the one, MO stopped further chemo.
It is common to switch chemo during tx. You should have been told this would be happening. My reaction was NOT common
I’m 6 years out and NED. You can do it.

thank u for the replies. I did know I would be switching but that's why I am asking if anyone found taxol easier than the ac part. Thank you for the replies. Hoping I can handle the 4 doses and get it over with (praying
