Nipple bleeding

Hello!

On Monday I received the great news that a lump I had biopsied last week was benign. Yay! Wednesday I saw a surgeon to go over everything and she was alarmed when I told her that I have bleeding from my nipple when I press on the area of the lump. This started around the same time I found my lump (I first noticed this when there was blood all over the machine after my first mammogram). Most things I've read said that fibroadenomas do not cause nipple bleeding.

I have to go back in for another ultrasound in 4 weeks (to let the biopsy area heal all the way) and then I'll see her again in 6 weeks. In the meantime, has anyone ever had bleeding while having a fibroadenoma? Or any ideas

    My bet is you have a little hematoma, a small collection of blood and bruisibg where they took the biopsies.

    The bleeding started over a month before the biopsy’s, though. It’s continued ever since. Sometimes I notice it when I wake up in the morning and sometimes it’s on the inside of my sports bra. The dr tested it and it’s definetly blood.

    Is there anything more specific mentioned in the path report beyond "benign"?

    Most bloody nipple discharge is caused by an intraductal papilloma and most of them are benign. Some are very difficult to find as they can be very small. Has anyone recommended a ductogram as follow up to evaluate the bleeding?

    the surgeon has me going in for an ultrasound to see if they can find any dilated ducts. I never actually saw the path report but the surgeon said it’s just a regular old run of the mill fibroadenoma.

    I went back and looked at my images from my first mammogram and you can clearly see the fibroadenoma but right behind it is another thing that looks like a mass, just about half the size. Is it possible they were so concerned with the bigger mass that they didn’t pay any attention to the smaller one? I looked at the radiologist report and it doesn’t mention the smaller one at all.
