edited August 2018 in Not Diagnosed But Worried

So 3 years ago I noticed a small hard lump under my nipple. It was about the size of a grain of rice. It's an immobile lump and I thought nothing of it because it didn't hurt. Fast forward 3 years later, my lump has now grown twic to the size of a grape. Still doesn't hurt and still doesn't move. I have made an appointment to be seen but couldn't get anything earlier than August 20th. Meanwhile, my anxiety is going crazy about this lump and what it could be. Has anyone had a close experience and it turned out fine? I'm 32

I'm sorry you haven't gotten any response to your question. I just want to try to reassure you a little bit. Breast cancer is not common in under-40 year olds. Your risk is less than 1%. You chances that this is benign is greater than 99%. That said, your risk is not zero and you should always have breast changes checked out. I know the anxiety of waiting is bad. Perhaps you can call on Monday and see if you can get on a waiting list. Or just call every day to ask about cancellations.

Best of luck to you. Let us know how it goes.

Thank you for your response. I know breast cancer is not common for people younger than 40, but does the risk go up if you’re not really healthy to begin with? I’ve had health issues for most of my adult life. What is considered family history? I have quite a bit of aunts and uncle a that have had cancer and two great grandmothers that’s hadn’t breast cancer but im not sure if that’s considered family history anymore. I’m a new patient so unfortunately I can’t call and get an earlier appointment. I appreciate any questions of mine that you might be able to answer

Did you mean it is now twice the size of a grape? Did it grow slowly over those three years or did it only recently get bigger? Did you have any physical exam or imaging between now and then? Any lumps under your arms?

Ask them to call you if there is an earlier cancellation.

djmammo thank you for your response. No, it has grown twice in the last few months and is now about the size of a grape. It was the size of a grain of rice for almost 2-2.5years. I honestly never thought to get it checked out so I haven’t been seen at all for it before. I thought because it didn’t hurt that it was nothing to be worried about. I’m not sure where to feel for lumps under my arms. I tend to get cysts on my armpits, that’s kind of just the norm for me.

Update to include new symptoms. Yesterday my left breast, the one with the lump, has started hurting. It’s tender all over and it feels like the tissues are hardening in some areas.
