To scan or not to scan

Hello ladies

I'm running into a problem and looking for input. I'm supposed to have a follow up chest CT with contrast. I have put it off once because of financial reasons. I will have to come up with almost $1000 to get it done.

It's just so much money. I know that probably sounds lame given our cancer history....but it is.

Radiologist recommended a follow up after seeing something earlier this year.

I just wish there were options outside going broke to see if this is a concern.

I want to be done with cancer.

It doesn't sound lame. It IS a lot of money. Even now, with my high-deductible HSA insurance, I cringe every time I need a blood test or a throat culture. And they're not $1K.

I wish I had good advice for you. I'm sorry you're faced with this decision.

you didn't mention why CT scan was recommended. Are they monitoring some nodules that were pre-existing to cancer? Did they see new nodules or something else? Did you talk to your oncologist about this?

I had a scan for side pain and it picked up something. It was listed as a nodule, I dont remember what and I dont have the report.

I talked to my dr when I was first told i would need a follow up. He didn't seem especially concerned, but said we could wait a few more months.

I'm in communication with his nurse about it. He's out of town right now.
