Not wanting to take hormonal therapy & taking spironolactone

Options

I was prescribed Exemestane.  I toke it for a month with bad side effects.  It made me so nauseated that I could not eat.  My joints were so painful and my back had increased pain in it.  I also am on spironolactone for edema and blood pressure.  Was reading a little on spironolactone that it could cause tumors and not for those who are BRAC+, and other articles stated that it was helpful in decreasing estrogen levels.

So I was wondering those of you who were BRAC2+, ER and PR+, HER2+ had a reoccurrence with their breast cancer.  I had a bilateral mastectomy with lymph node removal.  No cancer in the nodes and good surgical margins.

I am just trying to decide if my quantity of life by taking this is worth my quality of life.  My doctor asked that I try it for 2 more months to see if the side effects decrease.  As I was driving home I started to cry because I thought I cannot put up with these side effects anymore.  So I decided that I would not take it and see what my blood work comes back as.  Right now my CA 27.29 went down to 14.4.  I do not know what my levels were before treatment or even right after treatment.  I just don't know if I believe the tumor marker tests fully anyways.

Thanks for your ideas and thoughts or what you have been through.  Just looking things up on the internet say all kinds of different things.
