Hi Michelle
I am 2 years since my mastectomy and am not planning reconstruction, so I can't answer your exact questions.
However, my 87-year-old father has had surgery by Dr. Oxley twice - for recurring squamous cell carcinoma on his face. My father's case is obviously not at all like yours, but if I were to have plastic surgery I would happily put myself in Dr Oxley's hands.
He has been extremely informative as well as direct and compassionate with my father. (I've accompanied my father to 4 or 5 visits to him.) He is a great example of how to deal with patients, unlike some other doctors we've seen.
So, best of luck..

Hello Michelle
I live in Maple Ridge. I am 43 and am interested in talking to women from my area that are going through bc. I have found it very difficult to find any suitable support groups here in the lower mainland, do you find the same? I am going to see Dr. Lee in Surrey next month re reconstruction, I have never heard of your doc. Please get back tome if you feel like chatting
Thanks, Vicki -

You'll be fine I'm sure and think of the money you'll save on bra's! Think to the future and all the time you'll get to spend with your family. Will be thinking of you in the morning.

Oh Michelle, Best of luck tomorrow, you will be in my prayers. I had a bilateral in Oct and exchange in Dec. Everything will be fine. Take it easy and let others wait on you. The drains are the worst part but doable. My dh helped me with mine for a couple of days until I was strong enough to empty them. I also slept in a lounge chair for a couple of nights. All the best!!

Good luck, Michelle. I will be thinking of you tomorrow too.

I am home! Thank god! I hate hospitals. I had a very nice hospital staff and a private room but just not like home! Everyone was right just like you were all right with the chemo not as bad as I anticipated! My back hurts a bit but nothing unbearable. I feel so much better to have it over with and thank you to all the ladies who have posted on the pic board I wasn't scared at all when I saw them! Thank you Thank you Thank you! My PS was able to put in 400cc at the time of surgery so it will be easier for the future fills! Will check in again soon,I will be gone for a few days because my moms uncle died wil I was in having surgery and my 93 year old gradmother is in the hospital and I will be traveling on Sat (3hr drive) to say my good byes!
Love

Welcome Home! I'm glad all went well with the surgery.
It's really unfortunate about your family issues; it's too bad that you can't stay home and pamper yourself for a few days. Whatever you don't, don't overdo it. You just had major surgery and it's easy to do too much or to strain the incisions. Be careful and take care of yourself! -
I'm glad you are back at home and the surgery went well. I am curious about your impression of Dr. Oxley now. You did have the surgery by him, didn't you?
I just really liked his attitude with my father and wondered if you also found it positive. -
Tahnk you! I really like Dr.Oxley and am confident withhis work. He is a very nice man! How are yo doing?

My friend Deb is finished reconstruction with Dr Oxley...PM me if you want to chat!
-
Congratulations, Michelle!!! I am having Dr. Lee do my reconstruction next week...on the 28th...
You are lucky...when i had my mast in May I requested a private room and didn't get one ended up in a small room with 4 people including men.... -
Dr Lee did my reconstruction...he is a great surgeon...I cannot say enought about his talent! I am very pleased! Good luck ladies!

I've heard dr.lee in surrey is the best but i have been trying to get the number and I cant find it googling does anyone know how to get his contact info or place of buisness?
-
Dr Oxley's number is 604-580-0515. His receptionist could certainly give you Dr. Lee's number, if it is not the same one, since they are in the same office.
