In trying to remember what the nurse said I caught the words ductal carcinoma and I think anterior. And that was grade 1 to 2. She stressed that was caught early, even added very early at one point.

I know Dx can change after lumpectomy but does this mean im Stage 0? I didn't hear the words invasive at any point and I haven't seen my u/s results to see if there were suspicious nodes. I do have aches in my underarm area but I also have muscle ache issues in my upper body and have had them my entire life so I don't know what is what.

hopefully this will be clarified when I see my GP on thursday and someone tried to explain it me in another post but my dim brain just couldn't quite get it.

All this is so confusing to  me.

Sorry to be hounding you all.

DCIS is stage 0. Ductal carcinoma in situ. So if you heard “in situ” you could be stage 0. Although they never know for sure until surgery as there may be an invasive component within the DCIS.

    Thanks @ peregrinelady

I don't think insitu was used but even the nurse reading it couldn't understand what it was quite saying and I was in public in the waiting room of the hospital lab at the time so background noise and shock mumbled some of it up. The main words I caught were ductal and carcinoma and  she said listed as grade 1-2. I kept asking stage but it didn't have anything so now I wonder if it was dcis.

Pretty sure come Thursday I'm going to ask him to print a copy for me. I'm tired of this not knowing but it might explain why they aren't in an all fired hurry.
