One thing about Los Angeles is there is no lack of comprehensive breast cancer centers and services.

Not just Cedars, which has good reviews, but City of Hope, UCLA, Pink Lotus, The Bedford Breast Center. One of those places should be able to explain her situation and options to her and provide her with the proper treatment.

    calspecsteve:

Most of the breast cancer centers have patient navigators. If you have medical power of attorney why is the nursing home deciding where she receives treatment?

How goes it, calspecsteve? I am not familiar with California, but at a minimum, every hospital with an oncology program has a social worker or counselor, and more and more of them do also have navigators, but in my own experience at least, what a navigator does really varies from one hospital to another.

What I'd do is call and ask for oncology social workers, and hopefully you'll be connected to at least a general social work office, and they should be able to listen and start helping.

Stay in touch if you can. Best to the two of you.
