I had a BMX on June 13 with above the peck TE placement for reconstruction I ended up in the ER on June 30 with what turned out to be a massive Staph (MSSA) infection in both breast. So 6 days in hospital and both TE’s removed I am at home on a crazy strong antibiotic called Linezolid 600mg every 12 hours !! Anyone else had to deal with this kind of set back ?

Also I have been on Zoloft 200mg since my BC diagnosis in 2015... I had to stop cold turkey because of major drug interactions with the antibiotics (Linezolid) ... anyone dealing with this I feel like I am going crazy !

Unfortunately any meds like Zoloft that make your brain produce Serotonin would cause a problem! When my antibiotics are finished I can go back to my normal Meds but until then I guess I will have to feel weird !!! Ugh

Just wanted to say I'm so so sorry you are dealing with this. I just finished recovering from MSSA. My chemo port that I wasn't using since last July became infected with MSSA. I was told it was introduced at a routine port flush by my cancer center😡. I thought I had the flu initiallybut it was port infection (MSSA), severe sepsis, complete jugular DVT blockage as the port was threaded through the jugular and a couple of other DVT's caused by the sepsis. Was hospitalized 9 days. Removed infected port and couldn't even close the wound as so infected. Had a picc line inserted in my arm for antibiotics which I was not happy about. Was sent home with open wound and six weeks of at home IV antibiotics three times a day. And daily lovenox blood thinner shots in my stomach for 97 days. Just finished the shots last week. My blood cultures are clear now but the whole staph/ sepsis / treatment really threw me for a loop. Am still so angry as I went through BMX/ chemo/ radiation/ Oopherectomy/ exchange surgery and what made me the absolute sickest was this stupid needless staph infection and sepsis. I so understand how you feel and what you're going through. Hang in there and I wish you all the best!

Dacz, I have no advice to give but wanted you to know how sorry I am you are going through this. Sometimes we can be MRSA carriers and not even know we have it unless a nasal swab is done before hand. There is always that risk when having surgery that always makes me nervous. You are on the right antibiotic and I hope you feel better soon. I'm so glad you went to the ER when you did. Please keep us posted!
