Intermediate Range Oncotype and small tumor .5mm?
Add me to the list of dreaded intermediate range - 21. Age 48. BS didn't even request oncotype because they didn't think I would need to - Grade 1, Stage 1 5mm IDC - lumpectomy 5/30 with clean margins and no lymph node involvement. MO did to be safe and now is recommending chemo. I want to do everything I can to prevent reoccurence or distant cancer so I feel like I will go ahead with chemo (T and C for four rounds). But, curious of others decision in similar situation. I feel like I have been thrown for a loop, much more depressed and scared than when I first found out I have cancer.

Hi there Sunnybear. Are you ER+ and HER-? Any history of cancer in your family? Those are often the deciding factors when intermediate.

I am ER/PR positive, HER negative, genetic testing negative.

Thanks SunnyBear. The best science is out of the TailorX study, so please read up on that and discuss with your doctor. A link is below, and personally if you are planning to do Tamoxifen then skipping chemo seems reasonable. Here is the link:
