Neuropathy presenting as painful pins and needles...

....when I get hot! Anyone else? My other neuropathy symptoms of numb finger- and toe-tips has almost gone completely, but this is a big problem, and we are having a heat wave, and I can't swim because I am recovering from DIEP surgery. It sucks to feel better, but still be prevented from doing things. Frustrated, and my garden is dying!

I too notice mine does get worse on hot days. Have you tried a cool epsom salt foot and hand bath? I think it sort of helps me but I'm not sure....

My theory for it is that it's swelling. My feet and hands swell just a tad on hot days (it's always been a thing for me) and I think the additional swelling just adds a bit of extra distance for the nerve impulses to travel & causes problems. But that's just a theory that makes sense in my head based on the anatomy & physiology of it but I could be just making stuff up lol.

I have neuropathy on one foot from chemo which I completed 6 years ago.

Extreme temperatures of hot or cold cause my neuropathy to get worse.

This year when it was near 100, I had pain in addition to numbness.

The only thing that helped me was Aspercreme. It took the pain away.

Now that it has cooled off it is better.

Extreme cold does the same thing.

My sister also has neuropathy from chemo. We have the same symptoms

on the same days due to weather as we live near each other.

Thanks for the replies. I haven’t needed to treat it because it goes away as soon as I step in the shade or cool off in some way. If I avoid being hot, I have no problems. I don’t think I’ve had any kind of swelling.

I just don’t want to avoid any kind of heat for the rest of my life.

    Take care,
