I will be traveling this summer to take part in the Mentor Athena study for larger implants to fit my tall frame. Does anyone have any experience with the Plastic Surgeons at KUMC? There are 6 to choose from and I could use some insight! Thanks

I had my bilateral mastectomy with direct to implant reconstruction last week at KUmed Indian Creek Campus! Dr Balanoff was my BC surgeon and Dr Hendrix was my plastic surgeon! Loved my team of doctors! Dr Hendrix was phynemonal!

I had implants prior to diagnosis and that was why I was able to go direct to implant, Dr Hendrix biggest concern was skin necrosis and would not put in any bigger than what was taken out! He said I could always go bigger down the road! I thought it was very telling of his professionalism not caring about size, but my overall health first!

I had 300cc implants before and his explanation after surgery described my breast tissue that was removed as being compared to about 225cc...so he placed 500cc implants! Iam very happy with the size, of course Iam not completely healed yet but have complete confidence in Dr Charles Hendrix at University of Kansas Medical center!!

    Best wishes to yo

Hi, I'm doing the trial too with my PS here in Phoenix. I just got to 800 cc today and told him I wanted to go a little bigger, like 1000 cc and he said he'd sign me up for the study. I need to learn more about it now. Do you know if it is for any of the mentor implants or just certain styles, shapes, etc?
