hi all. As you can see from my stats, I was diagnosed last year with DCIS. Had bmx with immediate reconstruction. (Direct implants) about 4 months later, had fat grafting to even out the ripples caused by the implants. Love the results, couldn’t be happier.

However... I developed a few oily cysts from the fat grafting in both breasts. Doc is not concerned with them at all. She did an u/s and noted no shadowing, etc. however, I’m a wreck about it. I don’t want cysts! Nothing!

Any words of advice? Experience?

Tia!

My BS described me as ‘cyst-y’ and I’ve always been that way. At 14 I had a huge one removed, thankfully too young to worry. My tumour was surrounded by 4 cysts...like it had a set of Firestones to ride on. They show up on every US I get. I know how you feel, I want sparkly clean images too and even though we know it’s completely benign, any lump or bump sets our teeth on edge...I think it’s mild PSTD. Over the past 4.5 years I’ve ‘trained’ myself to accept and be happy it’s nothing more than cysts. I go in now expecting them, makes it much easier on the mind. You’re just a year out, so you’re bound to be antsy, very understandable. If a cyst shows, try to turn your anxiety around into positives by telling yourself it’s harmless. Not easy, but worth a shot. Over time you may be able to talk yourself out of the fear
