WELCOME TO THE WAGON CIRCLE
Comments

I think one of the main things to remember is that in the Wagon Circle because there are over 100 of us there it does move pretty fast. So when you type your message try to remember to copy waht you've wrote before you hit continue. That way you won't lose what you've just typed if it comes up "invalid" or something like that. It happens a lot when someone is posting at the same time.
The other way to do it is if you have word or notebook type it in there copy and past it in the reply box and if you get the invalid you'll still have it. -
Hi Vickie, Irene and Anne, don't worry about trying to catch up with the main thread. All you have to do is jump in and post something- we will catch you and answer and then when you feel like it jump back in again! You don't have to keep everyone straight!! But maybe I need to do a roll call for everyone??
karen, one year! Congrats!!!!
Robbie, hope you are feeling good!!!
OK! Update: There is NOW a Round Up Roll Call Thread! Please join!
-
OK, sign me up for the circle. I've been reading for days and enjoying all the different wagons. So fun for people with like interests to be able to share in one, or if needing to bitch, go to another. Whatever mood you are in there is a place for you! I came here first to introduce
myself and now will move to the main circle. I am in the middle of the whole BC experience and decided at the very beginning to laugh my way through this. I am an actor in our local community, been doing it for 20 years, all comedy roles. My friends are encouraging me to write a play. I know this is not a funny situation but somehow I have found humor in all this. I think I'll start my own thread to get some good stories from you gals, just reading your posts, I know there are alot out there! AND it would be very theraputic for me when I start my chemo this month. Marsha -
Hey Marsha! Nice to meet you. A comic tent is just what we need, and believe me, we have the stories!! So come on down to the main circle. So very nice to meet ya.
Nicki -
Hi Marsha ~
Nice meeting you. What type of chemo are you having?
Why not start a "Comic" thread too (As well as in the Circle) on the Humor Main Topic Board. We all need laughs.
Hugs,
Judy -
Hey Marsha! Pick yourself out a nice wagon! And we have all sorts of horses and donkeys too.
So glad you are joining us!! -
Marsha, you do community theater? So do I!!!!! I do all sorts of roles, but I love comedy. I'd like to hear about some of the ones you've done.
-
Judy...thats how I feel right now....I can't keep up...I'm off & on so much that its hard & I feel lost when I come back. I wish I'd of known this existed earlier...I'm really glad I found you girls...
Vickie 2 -
Vickie2: Dont give up! I did that with the chemo thread. I started chemo in end of July beginning of August 2005. By that time it seemed like everyone knew each other on the thread. I felt lost, and felt like I didnt belong. The wagon cirlce has grown because each day and new persons decides to venture in - and most stay. So if you dont come there, now that I have met you, I will be worried about you.
Each day is a new day. You dont have to worry about yesterday posts.
Nicki -
Nicki! I joined the July 2005 chemo thread, but not until August, and I always kind of felt like I wasn't quite "in the club" as everyone seemed to know each other. (I had also never been on any kind of discussion board or anything before.) I kind of fizzled out for the same reason. I bet we were there together and didn't even know it!
I agree, don't give up on a thread. I am overwhelmed now by how many posts there are in the Circle (for example, 49 since I posted last night at dinner time), but I just do my best, take notes, and try not to worry about leaving folks out.
And I think it was DebC that said, some folks you connect with more for whatever reason, and you might tend to remember to mention them more in your posts, but that doesn't mean you're not thinking about/caring about or supporting EVERYONE on the thread. So hang in there!! -
Colleen ~ I am so glad you said some people connect more with others and they remember them because I too was beginning to feel like I don't belong since I was not mentioned that much, but it is so nice to know that they do care and will support if I really need it. Thanks for that beautiful writing.
Vickie2 ~ If I can go in that room I want to see you there too. I am also taking Cy's advice (See above) and not worrying about "reading" everything.
See everyone and yes Vickie2 you TOO in the "Big" room.
Judy -
Judy, Vickie2 and Marsha
So nice to meet you guys. I joined the circle awhile back and felt the same as you guys. I've learned to go as my own pace and am guilty of not mentioning everyone. I also type my replies in Word and then copy and paste them. That way, I can click between the windows and read then reply. Hang in there.
Hugs
Liz -
Judy, Vickie2, ALL, please come in the big room.....when we say Hello to all Circle Girls, we MEAN you also....when we say HUGS to everyone, you are all included.
Madison -
oh I would be the one of the ones that fails to mention everybody and by no means is it because you are less thought of. I read the replies and think I will remember and then I start typing and go blank. Sometimes I even know what I want to ask but cant remember who I am supposed to be asking. Its just chemo brain,,take no offense. See ya in the big room! Amy
-
Colleen: Oh my goodness. For some reason I feel so connected to you. Now I know why.
Listen everyone! You dont have to mention everyone's name or answer everyone. Just come on board and say Hi!
Judy: your already becoming a regular.
Marsha: I saw your comedy circle thread but cant respond til tomorrow morning. But in the mean time, please come to our Toga party. Jello shots for all.
Vickie#2 where are you? Im a poet and I didnt even know it.
Nicki -
Hey, all you new gals. We were all new at some point. Don't be shy, just jump in. Don't try and read every thing, you will drive yourselves nuts. Just jump right in and you will get to know everyone. Like I've said before, there is lots of love and compassion to go around! Just pull up a seat by the fire, and and join us!
-
To all new comers, we want you to know the Wagon Circle is less than 6 months old. It does move fast but that's because we care about everyone that comes to the circle. Please don';t feel like you need to read every post that get entered. It can literally take hours to read one days worth of posts or it can take just a few moments. it all depends on what is going on in everyones day. Don't feel like you are being left out if your name isn't mentioned. Not everyone is going to have a comment for everyone else. There are over 100 women & one gentleman that have posted in the circle. The main thing is that we are there to support each other.
So please jump in where you feel comfortable read as much as you are comfortable with reading and know that we care about you. -
Hi All ~
Where is VICKIE2???? I have not seen her in here or in the "Big" Circle.
CY ~ I read 6 pages back last night and boy you are right it took me 2 1/2 hours to read it, but I was trying to get a feel for who the people are and what is going on now.
From what I can tell the "CIRCLE" is for anyone who has had BC whether it is now or many many years ago is that correct? People ask questions or tell what is happening and it seemed like the next few people that wrote it afterwards answered them. Do you write down somewhere what page you left off at and then go back to the next page to read on? What happens if you are gone for a few days, or a week or two? I really am trying to understand boards. It's 3 weeks today for me on message boards. Some of them are very easy to follow since they are ONLY a page or 2, but the "BIG" Circle and a couple others I went on "I Want My Mojo Back" and the "Spa" are going crazy. Thank you for any help you can give me about boards. As I mentioned before I wish I would have been on these 2 years ago.
Jan ~ Thank you for your welcome. I am in the Big Circle just have not gotten to write a lot yet.
Judy -
In the circle we are here to support each other. There are those that are newly DX those in treatment those trying to figure out how to live with the after effects of treatment and those that are goinging through it again. We post things that are happening to us or loved ones that we may need help trying to find a way to deal with it. We post things that are special and we just want to share. We try to find ways to help each other get through the day and the night.
Some times reading back a few pages can give you instight as to what a person is going through other timers it easier to just ask and someone usually tries to summerize what has been happening.
Hope this helps a bit. The circle is not even 6 months old and has many campers, some that stay some that just pop in every once in a while. If you're gone for a few days or weeks just ask someone to give a breif summery to help you catch up. or just try to catch Niki's post she does a great job of touching base with just about everyone.
As far as knowing where I was when I left yes sometimes I write down the page. other times I just look for my last post and read from there. Depends on if I'm going to be away for a while or not. -
I find the boards alot easier to keep up with than the chat room. I don't type fast enough & it's too hard for me to follow what's going on with everyone talking at the same time, but I'm trying to learn. I'm up at odd hours and there's nobody to talk to so I go in chat. It's rather intimidating since I've never chatted before.
I started out on the boards just a couple months ago. I read a bit of the Wagon Circle and felt a connection so I just sort of jumped in. That's before we had our own forum. I did like you, Judy, and kinda scanned back through to try & get a handle on who people were. I had the hardest time remembering real names from user names. It's easeiest getting acquainted with the people who post on a regular basis cos you see them more. I post daily, sometimes more, so I click on the name of the last poster to go to the last page & scroll up to find my last post. Then if there's been several people after mine then I sometimes take a few notes. Note taking is great. If you're gone a few days then like Cy said Nicki posts each morning and does a thorough job so you can catch up from that, or glance back through a bit, ask questions or you can always PM someone to ask what's been going on. This is a wonderful place. These women just took me right under their wing and I feel like I've been around for years. You will too. Don't ever stress over not being able to keep caught up, just relax and enjoy the ride. We're all happy to help in any way we can. Glad you've joined us.
Cheri -
Thank you both CY and Cheri for the GREAT information regarding extensive boards, especially the "Big" Circle. You two are wonderful women and I am glad to have met you both.
Judy -
Cheri ~ what are you doing up this early in the morning? Can't sleep? Take some Benydryl. There are so many people that use it for a sleeping aid.
Judy -
Judy, I slept very late today. My sleeping patterns are strange but I've always prefered the nights over days. You're up kinda late too, little missy. Course, you are 2 hours behind me. lol
your pal
cheri -
Morning girls,
I really have to learn how to say no!! I was working 7-3 shift yesterday and we got a sick call for afternoons, 3-11 and they know I am a pushover and will never say no.
They were ultimately right, I worked until 1pm last night after getting there at 6.30 am. Nutty Nurse Nicki will remember those days, you too Miss Shel!
I got home after a particularly gruelling evening, a patient we have had since November some time had to endure a below knee ampulation, The vascular and ortho guys have feen trying to save this leg all this time and the time came to give up the fight and that day was yesterday Poor boy is just 20 yrs old. I was bawling along with the rest of his family and nurses...so bad day turned into bad night.
I somehow equated his fight for his leg as similar to our fight with bc, silimar but different. I have been reading of some of our dear sisters (MJ) for instance who have fought the good fight and now must let it go
This also impacted me as I think you all know I am waiting on many scan and ultrasound reports and each day I reach a higher state of anxiety over it. My husband lost his first wife to IBC in 1994 and he is always ready for the worst and has been in a depression all this week.
Fast forward to this morning.....BONE SCAN..CLEAR.....ABDOMINAL ULTRASOUND AND BREAST ULTRASOUND....CLEAR AND ALL LABS WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS, sorry for screaming but you girls GET IT, you really do!
Hubby cried, I feel so bad for him, he just thinks of it all the time and I don't know what to do for him. I feel so guilty for getting bc since he already lost one wife to the beast. He is so wonderful and treats me like the royalty I am
just wanted to share my happy news this am.
love all you circle girls,
BIG SHOUT OUT TO GINA, LOVE YOU GIRL, FURBALLS ALL THE WAY! Remember the offer stands.
love Tina -
Tina, CNGRATULATIONS!!! That is truly fabulous news! You should post it on the main thread so everyone can read it. Maybe you posted here by mistake? That's something really wonderful to share. So happy for you.
Cheri -
Hi I"m here.....I haven't been on the computer all weekend...I'm really down in the dumps...you know I s/b excited abt my year anniversary Fri but w/husband being gone its kind of a letdown...I know that sounds crazy....I just have mixed emotions about how I'm suppose to celebrate this...
Vickie 2 -
What is the big room ya'll are talking about?
Vickie 2 -
Congratulations Tina .... wonderful news on the clear scans.... I always love seeing good news!!!!
NS: I'm still doing the furball chant .... hope the furballs are confirmed to be true quickly.... I saw that photo of you that you posted here somewhere ... geeeesh... stunning! I knew you are a beautiful person on the inside ... but you are just as beautiful on the outside.
Doreen -
Vickie2, the main thread here is Circle the Wagons it's the one with over 200 pages. But if you click on the last posters name and not the name of the thread it'll take you right to the last post and you can scroll back up from there. That's the actual Circle, this is just a welcoming thread for new people to explain what the wagon circle is all about.
Vickie, don't worry about how you think you're 'supposed to feel' about your 1 yr. anniversary. Everybody is different. It's very important to some and then there's some like me, I remember the year and the month but thats all. Mine was last Nov and it came & went without me even paying any attention. It's been one hell of a year. Of course you have mixed emotions. So glad it's over but thinking what life was like before cancer entered it and remembering those awful words the dr spoke. You made it through it and you're a survivor. I choose not to dwell on the day I got the news so I guess that's why I don't know the date. You're gonna be fine. Who says you need to even celebrate it? I think a celebration would be more in order for the date of your first onc appt. that you find out you're free of cancer. So cheer up, don't let it eat at you. There's 364 days in the year that you weren't told this news and only one that you were. That year is behind us. In the past, not the present or the future.
Feel better sweetie,
cheri -
Putting it that way I feel silly....you're right....I'm probably just more upset abt the dh being gone then the anniversary!!! I just have sooo many emotions right now...
You girls are a great group!
