Seven Years Out!
All,
Who'd have thought it? Of course, I had hoped, but back then lasting this long and functioning well on one treatment was unimaginable.
Seven summers ago, I was diagnosed with lung metastases many years after having had surgeries ten years apart for Stage I cancer in both breasts. My savvy oncologist recommended a then relatively new treatment that blocks estrogen receptors.
At the time, I thought I was a goner, that the disease had finally cornered me and I would be on a downward slide into illness and death.
How wrong I was. And how relieved I am to write that.
Here I am. And here I hope to stay.

tina2. Your story is what I want my story to be. Right now I only have mets to my lung and chest. Each PET they are less active. I'm beginning to believe that I might get to NEAD someday. My liver mets got bombed by y90 and have been inactive for one year.
So my 17months on I/F is working. It's remarkable that your MO put you on Fazlodex alone seven years ago. She is ahead of her time. Lucky for you.

Congratulations Tina!!That is great news and very inspiring!

Thanks so much for the encouraging post Tina! My oncologist has done the same, only an estrogen blocker. I have to say when I see all the treatments listed on here, sometimes I doubt his methods. But so far, three years out I'm only seeing stable or shrinkage. So I guess holding steady is the course to take!
-
So great and encouraging to hear!! I'm starting on Faslodex tomorrow, after my last scan shows liver progression. Was stable on Letrozole & Ibrance for over two years, so guess I was overdue. It's nice to hear this treatment has worked for you and for so long. Hoping for continued success for you!
