Inna--if this is the last AC then WOOT WOOT for getting this part done!!!
-
Ingerp - omg how did I lose count?!? YAY #9!!! You're getting close to closing this sucker down!! Sleep whenever and wherever...just not at Costco or in the car wash, could get folks riled
working full time, that amazes me..I worked full time at sleeping and eating lol...kudos! Almost there sunshine...you're doing it so well, proud!
Inna (godda davida) - #4....Go you!!! Hit whatever carbs you need right now to stop the freaking...how is it the chemo freaking you out? How bad are the SEs for you? Vent here if you want..your cave chicks are here for you. The crown is only going to make you more beautiful than you already are...and if anyone disagrees, hit em' with the cricket sceptor!
-
<Inna--or make them eat the cricket scepter>
-
.....or stick it up the other end
-
*There* you go. . .
-
Hello Ladies,
Ingerp - 3 more that's fantastic! Good luck today.
InnaB - good luck with #4 today!
Egads - thank you, I am not crying as much, I have hit the "kicking myself in the ass" part of the grief. Maybe past the anger of why him and not my people like my real dad and step mom who are monsters! NO definitely not past that yet. I look forward to seeing my therapist as soon as possible to help me through this. This is a link if anyone wants to see and read about who he was: https://www.mccormackfuneralhomesarnia.com/william-davie
Pi- So glad to hear your cold is gone, mine is still hanging on, but getting better. The salad looks good, but I don't know if I could eat that.... not a big fan of Indian food - likely the butter chicken I made once that has turned me right off.
Great job Two Hobbies and our Paleo Unicorn! Clean weeks, that's fantastic!
Got another cookbook from the library, this one is Dairy Free Keto meals, haven't opened it up yet, but if there are any good recipes I will be sharing for sure!
Thank you all for your support, I really need/needed it, it's been a tough couple day.
-
Vamp - Thanks for the update, I can well imagine the last couple of days have been very tough. I popped over and read Bill's obit. Handsome dude, and a kind face too. Looks like he enjoyed life. I'm glad you had him for the time that you did, especially considering the strain that other family members have caused. It seems that when this kind of tragedy strikes all the problems are brought to the surface and amplified. Family, oh it can get so complicated and hurtful eh? The therapy is awesome, and it's a wise move on your part to get some helping sort it all out....hoping it brings you some peace and a way to move forward. The process takes time & tears, but you'll get there, judging from Billl's pic, I'm sure he wants nothing but the best for you & your family. Hugs!! (Can't wait to read about the recipes in the new book.....cook baby...cook like it's for Dierks!)
-
It's here Cave Chicks….the one we all wait for, the day that makes us sing *food glorious food!*
FOODIE FRIDAY!!! Post your pics, or just the recipe, links, stories, culinary highs and lows, put em' on parade!
I'll kick it off.....I call this one Nailed it! Not!!!...……………….
FEEL FREE TO POINT AND LAUGH, the caveman and I sure did! Total and utter visual fail, but man, did it ever taste good! My cave man said it looked like something off of the show Forensic Files…..*grumble* didn't stop him from eating it.
))
BLACK FOREST MUG CAKE….TWO MINUTES prep and TWO MINUTES in the microwave!! (for the cake portion) I didn't use fresh cherries….pain in the behind pitting them, so I made a quick compote from frozen, unsweetened, but didn't need it.
I've always had probs with coconut whipped cream, and it wasn't any different here. It made everything slide off into the 'puddle' of compote that it was supposed to look elegant on...LOL elegant, more like elephant!!! (probably because I stacked it 3 high)
Looks bad, tastes good! Don't let the picture turn you off.....so fast and easy when you want a treat, so many ways to prepare with your fav toppings.
Here's the links:https://downshiftology.com/recipes/chocolate-mug-cake/- Basic mug cake recipe
https://downshiftology.com/recipes/chocolate-mug-cake/ - Black forest mug cake recipe - see how it SHOULD look LOL!
Approx 20-25 net carbs for half piece (I cut down the amount of sweet in the ingredients, always do, but if using artificial it can be even lower). All paleo, all squeaky clean ingredients....just make sure the rest your carbs are in line.
-
Egads, I don’t know what you aesthetic elitist complain about, that mug cake looks good! My cricket scepter is coming for anyone who disagrees. Yes, it will be my last AC in about 40 min, and so far the SE’s have been accumulating steadily from the previous 3 treatments. So, I guess I am not sure how this one will add to them. Plus, I hope my good vein didn’t close since the last time because I’ve been told I mightn’t need to get port for the 4 Taxol treatments. That would suck... Anyway, will keep you updated.
Ingerp, congrats on only 3 more T’s to go!
Vampeyes, good decision seeing a therapist. Survivor’s guilt is brutal.
-
LOL!! aesthetic elitist - are you kidding???? you should see my garage and I'm just fine with it
))) Oh it was gooooooood, so you're right, what the heck does it matter really. Think I was more annoyed with the whipped cream avalance…..probs in the past with it so I have a whipped cream resentment lol....needs a trouncing with the scepter!
I'm sorry you're suffering the build of SEs....I got progressively more tired and weaker (balder), lucky I guess, not much suffering. There is evidence that fasting before and after can make quite a difference in SEs....not what anyone wants to hear (don't eat), but if you have some time and are interested read these:
https://www.marksdailyapple.com/fasting-cancer/ - good article, scroll to Human Studies portion for the skivvy on the SEs & fasting
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2815756/ - the study
Crossing fingers your good vein holds up.....we're with you in spirit today!
-
Very sweet obituary vampeyes. I hope today has been going ok for you. ❤️
That dessert does look delishious Egads!! It’s so funny- I just pitted a bunch of cherries for my family last night for dinner. I told them they’re lucky that someone would do that for them!!! My fingers are stained today! Anyway they were very good. It’s not often that you get to eat cherries by the spoonful.
Here’s a pic of that snack:
Pretty filling and yummy 😋
-
Thanks Egads for the research on stress. Went for some forest bathing yesterday which is always calming.
Thinking of you and your family Vamp. Love to InnaB as you finish your chemo.
So here is the recipe for crustless quiche. https://skinnyms.com/crustless-vegetable-quiche/
My hubby likes it better when I make pastry with LARD but that's not going to happen anytime soon! The sun dried tomatoes really add nice flavour.
Last pic of the rest of our hike yesterday:
So great to exercise out in nature!
-
Wow that looks yummy DearLife! I love that- forest bathing. I was thinking of that the other day when I went to Mill Creek Park with my family. The trail is surrounded by trees and creeks and I thought, this is what DearLife was talking about! ☀️🌸🌲🌳 All the fresh air! Beautiful pics!!!
-
Trees are magical. For those who missed the post in the old Lifestyle thread, here is more on the Japanese practice of forest bathing:
“From 2004 to 2012, Japanese officials spent about $4 million dollarsstudying the physiological and psychological effects of forest bathing, designating 48 therapy trails based on the results. Qing Li, a professor at Nippon Medical School in Tokyo, measured the activity of human natural killer (NK) cells in the immune system before and after exposure to the woods. These cells provide rapid responses to viral-infected cells and respond to tumor formation, and are associated with immune system health and cancer prevention. In a 2009 study Li's subjects showed significant increases in NK cell activity in the week after a forest visit, and positive effects lasted a month following each weekend in the woods.
This is due to various essential oils, generally called phytoncide, found in wood, plants, and some fruit and vegetables, which trees emit to protect themselves from germs and insects. Forest air doesn't just feel fresher and better—inhaling phytoncide seems to actually improve immune system function."

See you in the woods!

A bunch of lovely pictures! Food, the outdoors, beautiful! I have a recipe for ice cream from Maria Emmerich's Keto Comfort Foods cookbook. I didn't mind it, but found the MCT oil makes me nauseous if I have more than a tsp of it, bummer too because apparently it helps with memory! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Bg6ig23iocFWkR... Next time I will have to try one of the links you ladies have posted.
Now I have that wonderful Flapper recipe I wish I knew how to turn into bread, because I just can't get enough of them. lol
-
Chemo girls, keep up the good work - you will get there. I had the vein problems. Funny - before cancer I thought people afraid of needles were sissies, and I never had any concerns. I had lymph nodes removed from my "good" arm. Other arm has difficult to find veins, multiple IV failures. After three surgeries, hospitalization for infection, and chemo, I now feel anxiety coming on when I smell a disinfecting wipe open. Inna, make sure they are running saline in between chemo meds. I think my one vein failed because she forgot to do that one time. And drink plenty of water.
DearLife - a beautiful hike. I saw about the forest bathing too, and knew it was true in my soul. I'm pretty sure if they study large bodies of water they would find something similar. Who doesn't feel better at the ocean or lake? I live near Lake Michigan and I always feel noticeably different when the wind is off the lake rather than from the southwest, where it doesn't cross the lake. They also studied sun. Sunbathing improves your your immune function - not just related to vitamin D, so I do a little sunbathing now. Spent years trying to protect my skin from the "aging, skin-cancer-inducing" sun. Well that's what they've been telling us, right?
Well I forgot about Foodie Friday or I would have gotten a pic of my evening meal - 1/2 a steak, cucumber, onion, and red bell pepper salad, sauteed zucchini, and golden honeydew (hadn't tried that, it was delicious). Black forest mug cake looks delish - not sure how you wanted it to look. I'd gobble that up, and may just save that in my pocket for a dessert craving. Crustless quiche also looks delicious.
Pitting cherries: I have a cherry tree and the easiest way to pit them is a pastry tip that you use to pipe icing - well in a non-Paleo household - LOL. Slide the cherry down the tip and the pit stays in the hole. Unfortunately my cherries mostly dropped off this year before full maturity. We had super cold, rainy weather, followed by super hot 95, and then super cold again and they did not like one or both of those.
Completed day 5 of clean eating but not getting much exercise in. I will probably be weekend warrioring it as usual to keep my exercise minutes up. I always aim for 150 minutes minimum, but more if it fits in.
I love ancestral health symposium videos on youtube, so I thought I would share a link with you guys. When I first discovered them it was like binge-watching netflix for me. The symposium for 2018 is coming up in a few days, so there should be new videos in a while. Ancestral Health Symposium

Speaking of AHS videos: Breast Cancer Pathogenisis and Dietary Recommendation
OK if you don't want to go over breast cancer types and how it forms, since we know that sh*t too well, skip to around minute 19. This is the first explanation I've found of pre-menopausal breast cancer, which I had. Obesity is a risk factor in post-menopausal cancer due to the ability of fat tissue to convert aromatase to estrogen, therefore the recommendation is to lose more than 10% body fat, and why we take aromatase inhibitors. Pre-menopausal cancer, and those with BRCA gene, is influenced by insulin and igf-1, and she states low-carb diet and fasting are ways to reduce those. Wish I'd known this 30 years ago, but I see how this can help us prevent recurrence too, so better late than never.

Afternoon all!
Warrior the Paleo Unicorn – You're darn tootin' the family should appreciate your pitting efforts…..that's fiddly time consuming work! Not to mention the fingertip stains that make outsiders wonder if you have a strange affliction…..or really bad circulation lol! By the spoonful, and fresh……so summer! I had your snack last night, albeit with 85% chips…VERY nice, loved the crunch of the apple, thanks for posting……pretty pic too!
DearLife – Forest bathing is a family fav of ours…..STUNNING pictures! The light that dapples on the ground flora & fauna in the first pic puts me close to nirvana. My caveman will point it out while walking and say "your light is on"….. I know I don't own it lol, but its especially calming for me. One of the few things that actually shuts me up
Oh and the smell, earthy, green, love it. Your lakeside pic looks a lot like northern Ontario scenery…..my family cottaged there in my youth (paleolithic era). We sure have a pretty country don't we? Perfect for forest bathing. I read your articles & studies, excellent info! The good mental and physical benefits doesn't surprise me one bit. The human machine was meant to be outdoors and I'm convinced that the many benefits (visual or otherwise), are there. Look up 'sick building syndrome' and that's all the proof anyone really needs. Thank you for posting…..I really enjoyed the pics! PS…..the quiche is on the menu for breakkie tomorrow…..I'll be sure to credit you while serving to my caveman
)
Vamp – Hey girlfriend…..hope today is easier for you! Hugs! Hey post that flapper recipe or PM it to me….there usually is a way of turning this stuff into a loaf, I've made enough doorstops and heavenly loaves over the years….let's experiment! If the oil turns your tummy, then maybe you shouldn't be using it at all? There's nothing wrong with it per se (being fatty acids), but the most common SE from MCT (hey that rhymes!) is to the tummy…and dare I say it…..*deep dark voice* the bowels. Coming from a background of serious GI issues I personally avoid anything that causes probs because my UC was actually uncovered because of use of GI irritating meds. Your choice….just thought I'd be the devil's advocate…you know you best! Btw, the memory thing….ugggg it was SO bad when I first started tamoxifen, severe case of 'tip-of-the-tongue-itis', brain stall. Give it plenty of time, it DOES get better thankfully. I think to more active you are(within your limits) also helps.
TwoH – Wonderful link! I just got through watching the 'Dirty Genes' vid on your symposium link….fascinating, sensible and astute information…..ties right into your pre-menopausal post actually. Looking at the BIG picture, adherence to better protocols and attacking according to case and variables should be standard. Too true, better late than never. My cancer was discovered while peri-menopausal, I was packing 25-30 extra pounds for 5 years proceeding, and for me that was A LOT.If I'd lost or never have gained that weight, and hadn't got really lazy, could I have avoided it? Maybe so, maybe not….but I'd like to think I may have avoided it…..as I do now by living the paleo la vida loca! It all makes so much good sense. Excellent links, I'm going to be posting on the original entry above….got's ma' work cut out for me there….so many good links to all things we've posted are going up as soon as I get my butt in gear! Will be watching many more vids and looking out for the 2018 symposium release too!
Everyone: TwoH's pitting cherries tip – BIG thumbs up, just tried it works like a charm! The 'clean gals'….awesome work ladies, keep on keepin on! Anyone up for rolling on into next week with clean? The closest I'll come to Vegas will be eating clean, but too much. Just for tonight. Special occasion.
-
I haven't watched the dirty genes one yet. I'll have to watch that one. I found another youtube channel - Physicians for Ancestral Health. I'm at risk of being on the couch all day! This video is talking about the lower recurrence coming from reduced carbs - I think we talked about that here? I had heard it was one serving, she specifies 27 grams. So anyone can reduce 27 grams of carbs, even if you don't want to be paleo.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uG3lUgIvBZM
I'll roll into superclean week 2 with you!
-
TwoH - *high 5* onwards clean! Paleo, vegan, low fat...whatever...everyone should reduce carbs to healthy levels...ESPECIALLY simple carbs...wipe those out folks if you can. Carbs drive fat drives disease. 27 grams on the average day is doable if you’re averaging over 150...and as TwoH points out it can reduce risk, win-win!
I hear ya! Time to get off my touchas, unplug and get my healthy on
-
I’ve not been 100% clean this week but only a couple of cheat meals where I was meeting with friends. I’m okay with that as there was celebration behind it. It’s when I snack cheat for no good reason I get cross with myself but I seem to have control of that for the moment.
I haven’t exercised as much as I should and I’m annoyed with myself as it’s Sunday morning and the 15k walk I was going to redeem myself with has been cancelled because of torrential rain. I have been inspired by you girls and will be starting a HIIT program on Monday. It will be slightly modified due to my multiple bone Mets but I’m looking forward to it/slightly terrified by it. Anyway.
I’ve a question about Konjac noodles. I’ve never used them, I’m a zoodle girl normally but have seen a couple of recipes using them. Are they easy too cook with? Are they really ok for low carb/Keto eating? I might purchase some if they are ok.
Not Paleo but this is a picture of a fairly typical Japanese breakfast we encountered on our tripexcept it’s vegan as we were staying at a Buddhist monastery at the time. Hadn’t added the rice at this stage. Note the handful of cornflakes on the salad. Not sure if that’s a typical Japanese add on or a lost in translation add on for the tourists
This was more typical of a traditional Japanese breakfast and slightly more to my liking, again there will be rice and miso served. Fish, eggs, meatballs, pickled veg, salad, even with rice it’s got to be better than the typical western cereal breakfast
-
Here is the Flappers recipe: https://docs.google.com/document/d/10bA27-5OglQuHe....
I think the reason I like it so much is because it's sweet. Lol. The bread I made this am is good enough for toast, maybe grilled cheese and hopefully pie irons that weare having tonight. It fell coming out of the oven, not sure why.
Today was hard, but I heard a few good stories about Bill. It's getting easier every day, not as many tears.
Have a great weekend all.
Edited to add that the bread I made today made horrible pie irons! It's times like this I miss real bread. Lol
-
Egads, I really don't think you could've avoided cancer by losing extra weight. I have 5 friends who were diagnosed within the last 4 years, fit as fiddles. One of them, actually is a yoga instructor and life style coach. Not a spare ounce of fat on her. I am on board with keeping healthy weight after diagnosis, though.
My AC #4 SE's are being kept in check by the edibles this time. I can highly recommend them. I've never tried anything like that before, and I have to say that I wish I asked for them earlier. In addition to controlling my nausea they make me smile.
-
There's a lot of interesting research on genetics and epigenetics and the truth is we could have gotten cancer because of something our grandmother did or was exposed to - because the egg that made us was formed when your mother was in the womb of your g-ma. So no point in trying to decipher what caused it or blame ourselves. The important thing is we take control of what we can now.
Shazz, that's a little different breakfast than we are used to, but it looks good nonetheless.
Egads, I have to confess that I sinned last night. Mexican restaurant - shrimp fajitas with lettuce wrap instead of tortillas accompanied by mango salsa, zucchini, yellow squash, onion - so far so good. My son also got fajitas and his came with guacamole - which he didn't think really "went" with his honey chipotle chicken, so of course after I did good all meal... well it is a CRIME to LEAVE GUACAMOLE on a plate, so I ate chips with the guacamole. It was all so good. Up .6 lbs from my lowest low in 5 years, which I hit yesterday. I will do better today.
-
Too funny TwoHobbies! It is a crime to leave any guac behind! 😂😂
-
Morning Cave Peeps! Welcome to Monday...…….and
It seems that Vegas came early, we've had 'indiscretion' (still love that term) reports throughout the weekend. As we've maintained all along, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas......it's a new week and a new chance to get it all back together!
Shazzzzz - Gorgeous pics! For sure it's a much healthier breakfast than the standard western bowl of Frosted Flakes....it's real food and looks so good! Have to agree, what the heck is up with the corn flakes in the salad??? Maybe for added crunch? LOL! HITT can be as simple as increasing your pace 50% while walking...holding the faster pace for 30 seconds (or 15 in the beginning) and then taking it down to your normal pace. Repeat every 2-3 minutes. Start slow and work up to longer HIITs. No need to go crazy in the beginning, especially if you're worried about the mets. You could do the same on an elliptical machine as well (easier on impact), just increase the pace and go back every few minutes. Easy peasy…..let us know how you do with it! Konjac....will cover in a new post.
Vamp - Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better, a loss like yours takes a helluva toll. Btw, I get my prescripts from Shoppers they sticker SE warnings everything in sight, surprised I didn't walk out with one on my forehead LOL. I'll be playing with the flapper recipe this week and let you know how it goes.....you could make up a batch of paleo bread, there are tons of recipes, but I don't think it'll be at the carb rating you're looking for. Will keep ya' posted.
Inna (godda davida) - I don't think my weight caused it either, or could have prevented the inevitable, but it couldn't have helped matters....If someone has the genetic link then it's a crap shoot in the end...as I think it is for most of us. Fit people certainly get cancer. I just had to wonder (and perhaps I'm playing the blame game on myself) seeing as I was almost a triple neg, could better health have made a difference? If exercise reduces risk by upwards of 40%, would things have been different for me personally if I'd been active. Again, it's a crap shoot. I LOL'd loud at your 'edibles' comment.....can you share with the crew??? So glad to see you got something that made #4 easier.....and life in general easier LOL! *high 5* on #4....you're rockin' it! Just don't let us catch you wandering the streets singing Bob Marley tunes
))))))))
TwoH - You are under arrest! LOL! Vegas baby, Vegas. Clean starts now....hope you're still with me! Stats are showing and trending increase in BC rates, but the 'cause' is muddled. Better screening & genetic advances are catching more cases so we're that much more aware, environmental, lifestyle, genetic, the advent of the pill and HRT all factors. You're right (along with InnaB), trying to decipher on an personal basis, except in determining treatment is a very complicated issue. Were the rates lower 300 years ago? We'll never have a hard and fast number, stats weren't taken back in the day, and along with modern techniques, it would be like comparing apples to airplanes. I imagine environment does play a heavy roll since the industrial revolution basically set the world on the fast track to new 'poisons' being introduced to the body....food, water, air. The good news is that survival rates have shot up dramatically thanks to science. 300 years ago we were doomed.
I remained true to the cause this weekend, and am forging on. Not hard at all, been doing this too long, it does get easy peasy!
Wondering where & how MAP, JKL, Cowgirl, are doing...….actually there are others missing too.....hope y'all aren't stuck at the roulette table
)) We miss ya!
-
Our lovely Shazzzzz posed a great question!....Konjac noodles aka Shirataki, Miracle Noodles, Nupasta (Canada), glucomannan. The noodles are made from the konjac 'fruit', one of the most fibrous plants on this little blue planet, third from the sun. Packaged in a lime brine (safe) these babies are clear & rubbery, the type you find in Asian soup bowls. Not only extremely low cal, but the carbs are completely cancelled by the fiber. ZERO CARBS! I use Nupasta….actually isn't clear, made the same colour as pasta. Nutritionally speaking they're on the skinny side, you're not going to get much out of them....but filling....man are they filling! Perfect addition to your Asian meals! Dry fry them over medium high heat to remove as much moisture and serve with your fav pasta sauce. There is a drawback......always is one! The smell. OMG when you open the package there's a strange slightly fishy briny smell. Rinse the heck out of them! Rinsing makes a big diff. Dry frying before use does the same. Once added to food the smell is only a tiny bit/vaguely there, not at all in soups, but doesn't taste. It's the closest to pasta that I've ever found, so I'm a fan. Big Paleo thumbs up!!
Enjoy!

Hey, Egads, I'm apologizing up front for what will probably be a long post. It's been a difficult few days - one of my best friends lost someone close to her to an opioid overdose (sure brought the country's opioid crisis home to me). Her family & their entire small town are reeling & it hurts to know there is nothing that can be done to help them cope with this. (And when an insensitive family member commented to me that "(the deceased) got what he was asking for" I had to deal with anger in addition to my sadness.)
I'm still on the paleo train but it does tend to stop occasionally in Vegas. DH was fighting a summer cold last weekend & requested homemade chicken noodle soup. It smelled so good (& I was craving comfort food) that I had a big bowl, noodles & all. The good news was that my stomach was fine with the pasta & a single bowl satisfied my craving. I'm on the straight & narrow again & made a fantastic spinach salad with fresh strawberries & a hot dressing for dinner last night. It was tasty but very labor intensive. Paleo would be a lot more fun if I could afford a personal chef!
I can also report (& Map, this is especially for you) that I made the strawberry banana paleo ice cream & that is was both easy & yummy!
Vamp, I'm thinking of you & sending hugs. I, too, read your stepdad's obituary & he looked & sounded like a lovely man. It's no wonder you miss him so much. And Ingerp (& anyone else going through chemo), I hope you're doing well & nearing the end your treatment. I saw a picture of you on some other discussion & I agree that you would look good with short hair (you have an elegant face & look what short hair did for Audrey Hepburn!). So go for it - & post pictures!
I'm going to the gym later today for weightlifting & aerobics & I'm hoping all the endorphins will lift my mood. See you all there!
-
JKL - Thank you for checking in, and I'm sorry to read about your woes. Substance abuse is a horrific epidemic, and for someone to say 'they get what they deserve' is startlingly ignorant of the facts. Drug addiction knows no boundaries and touches every section of society. Any of us could easily find ourselves in those shoes one sad day. To think otherwise is foolish IMHO. Don't blame you for being angry, very offensive statement. I'm sorry for your friend, your and the community's loss. I'm also sorry it's got you down. Hope the chicken noodle helped a wee bit. Check out the noodles I posted about above.....great sub and you could have chick noodle more often! As for the salad dressing, my standard is to mix up a weekly batch of oil, vinegar & spices so that I'm not tied to the kitchen counter. I'm intrigued by your hot dressing.....perhaps you'd consider posting it....foodie Friday maybe?
No need to apologize for long posts, I like long posts....it's the stuff threads are made of....heck, if that were the case I'd have been banned a long time ago I'm such a blabber gus! LOL!
Big HUGS....hope your day gets brighter!
-
Egads what about soba noodles? They are made from buckwheat, which is non gluten. Buckwheat is actually a seed, not a grain. They have about half the calories and half the carbs of regular spaghetti.
There are lots of good recipes for stir fries and salads with soba noodles. Not as low cal as Nupasta but they smell good!
