You know what and headstands combination sounds challenging.

He's gone. I know he is not in pain anymore, but my heart aches. Think the king's would allow this cave chick some alcohol because I could sure use a drink that's not water!
-
Vamp sweetie I’m so very sorry, my heart goes out to you. Yes he’s not in pain, but it’s the living that have to endure, you’re right. I know exactly where you’re at, nothing makes it better right now, so go ahead and partake in a glass or three, it’s got full cave chick backing. Matter o’ fact it’ll do you good. Don’t forget we’re here to catch your tears...much love and many hugs. Condolences to you and your family.
-
Wishing you peace at this time of sadness, vamp. I’m sosorry you’re going through this ❤️❤️❤️❤️
-
So very sorry, Vamp. Sending you sympathy & lots of hugs. You mentioned earlier that you were thinking about the good times you had shared with your step dad. As a step mom myself, I can promise you that if you had good times together, those times felt even better to him. When we can bring happiness to the child of someone we love, it brings us immeasurable joy. I hope you can find comfort in your memories. We're here for you.
-
Vampeyes I am so sorry for your loss. Raise a glass and through your tears, be thankful he was in your life. Hugs.
-
Vampeyes, I am so sorry for your loss. I know exactly how you feel. My husband’s cousin passed away suddenly right around the time I was diagnosed in March. He was 51 years old. I still can’t think about him without tears in my eyes. His poor widow is not doing good. I speak to her often. There are no words that will ease your or her pain, though. Please hold on and keep him alive in your thoughts.

T
I posted the TB bottle container. Many TB's. Two people. They get used once, then they go to the DW.
-
Vamp - My condolences for the loss of your dear step Dad.
-
Thank you everyone for your words of kindness, I can't believe how hard this is affecting me. I thought I would be out of tears by now, apparently I have an unlimited supply of them.
Not gonna lie, I had two drinks last night and then around 4 am I felt nauseous so I ate my first banana in weeks - it was to die for. lol I didn't know what else to grab at that hour. I usually don't feel hungry, but I think those PMS hormones are here making feel hungry all the time. May explain the extreme crying sessions that has been going on too. He's the second closest person to me to pass, the first was my grandmother - that was quick, I don't remember being this upset when she passed.
I was suppose to get back to work today, I only clean houses privately, I cancelled, but I wonder if maybe I should go and take my mind off of Bill?
On another note yesterday I finally (8 months to get this call!) talked to the Genetics testing place and I do not qualify for the test to be done. They are not concerned if I carry the gene, not enough family knowledge of cancer, so not enough cancer diagnosis's in the family to warrant the test. Guess I get to keep what's left of my boobs then, thought for sure I would have the test and be told I was a carrier, loose the boobs and have to start the healing all over again. So I guess there is one positive to yesterday.

Mornin' Cave Peepers! Coffee on the go here....I love my morning coffee, don't you?
Vamp - You were in my thoughts last night. Brought back memories of losing my dad, and the emotions we go through...it really is a process. I was the same, when my grandmother passed it was easier to handle, she was 101 and had lived a very full life....it was expected. My father got cancer and passed relatively quick, didn't seem natural. Thought I'd have him for many more years so I was devastated. Your tears are a healthy release, so let them flow. If you need to go to work for peace of mind then do so. You can always leave work if it gets overwhelming...your clients will understand I'm sure. If you need to stay home and mourn, do it. Just roll with what you're feeling and don't expect too much of yourself, you've suffered a big blow (not to mention your DX a short time ago). So much on your plate.
It's your time right now, take it and be greedy about it. 2 drinks and a banana? lol, not exactly Vegas all things considered. Besides, a bananas pack a good nutritional punch, taste like heaven, and the drinks, well, if they give you peace of mind it's all good. There's a time and place, that time is now. As for the genetic testing, same went for me and I took it as a positive too. I hope you find some peace today....we're here for you with big supportive hugs! Keep us in the loop, we're here anytime.
-
Vamp, my sympathies and a big hug. So hard to watch someone you love be in pain and pass.
-
vampeyes, I'm sending you a virtual hug! I hope that in time you will have all the good memories of your step-dad surfacing that only cause "happy" tears. For now, you are grieving and that can be heightened with all you have gone through. Try to get sleep, exercise and eat well, so you can stay strong.

Who had that ice cream?? please send. I have an ice cream maker at home, but rarely use it.. My recent favorite is a new Ben and Jerry's "Chilli' teh Roast Truffles", cold brew coffee with chocolate cookie covered coffee liqueur truffles and fudge swirl.... I KNOW!! RIGHT???
Cardio yesterday was our fire drill.. walked down 20 flights of stairs and then up 3..
Leg day tonight.. but rethinking my program. Did the "livestrong" program at the Y last fall.. At the time, it seemed too easy based on what I had been doing before. I couldn't wait to get back to my regular program.. But now I'm doing it months and I question it... The Y is more flexible in that I can run in and out when I would need to and not have to wait for a class time. They also have a pool, (yay laps!) yoga, and all different kinds of fitness classes.. And a nutritionist. And its cheaper...
But the Max Challenge is what changed my view of healthy, helped me lose 40lbs.. etc...
I'm thinking the evil tamoxifen is starting to catch up to me in that I'm in full blown menopause now, have awful cravings and my stamina is for shit....I do go to the gym, just not the same level...
Back to the toothbrushes... I am not a germophobe on any level. My house is clean, but not spotless. I don't use anti-bacterial stuff on every surface at work.. I use my hands on doorknobs, etc... I rarely get colds, infections, etc... maybe 1 a year. I switch out my toothbrush when I think of it.. (which, now that I'm thinking of it, its been a while).. I think I credit my laziness for building my immune system. My young adult children are the same way.. Maybe 1 or 2 cold viruses a year...
Coffee in the am is a MUST!!! with my dash of half and half.. not cold, not iced, not flavored.. just old fashioned good dark bean coffee... One, maybe two large mugs in the morning and I'm usually good for the day... sometimes, a boost at 3....
I'll be a bit out next week.. Have a training class to go to. (starting a certification program). Ug.. Class from 8-5, Mon-Fri and a test Saturday morning before my flight...
Love ya chics! I'll check back a little later.

MAP, the recipe for strawberry banana soft serve (I mentioned it in an earlier post) is from nom nom paleo & doesn't even require a machine:
Put 3 frozen bananas, a cup of frozen strawberries, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract & 1/2 cup coconut cream (or full-fat coconut milk) in a food processor for 1-2 minutes. Once it's soft & creamy, eat & enjoy!
I also found some others that use an ice cream machine:
https://www.mynaturalfamily.com/recipes/paleo-reci...
I haven't made any of these yet but definitely plan to!
-
Sassy - Love the assortment of TBs....and SO clean lol! I think we've all found a new use for the DW.....I know I have!
Pixi - *waves* how's things?
MAP - Loves ya right back! All the best for a successful certification! We'll be missing you! By everything you've listed I'd say you're killing those workouts! Keep it going....making us proud! Enjoy the ice cream.....have a scoop (or 9) for us will ya! …….oh as long as it's paleo LOL!
JKL - Mind if I list your link above on the original post? I'm listing a few myself and would love to incorporate yours as well.

TUTORIAL THURSDAY – A few hippy-dippy anti-stress coping methods (aka gimme a break!)
We've had some stressful blows on the thread this week, a few with illness and notably Vampeyes, who is mourning a great loss. All of us have such different lives, but we share in one thing – stress.
We all carry some form of it, in varying degrees. Heck we're doing the cancer battle on a daily basis along with anything else we may have to cope with. Get your zen on and check these hippy-dippy anti-stress tips:
- SEEK MEANING, NOT HAPPINESS: Happiness is a goal we all reach for, but it is fleeting in most forms. The happiness gained from goals you achieved in the gym/work/life today, aren't going to stick with you and stay there providing a constant state of happiness, it's momentary. You may find yourself endlessly chasing this 'happiness high', and stress when it doesn't hit. Instead, try delving into the meaning of your efforts and how they have given you purpose, a fuller life and moments of exhilarating happiness. Find joy in the meaning of your goals and the chase is done, stress reduces. How very zen! Match all this with some patchouli perfume and a peace sign and you'll mentally have gone to San Francisco….wearing some flowers in your hair.
- STAY UNINFORMED: Unplug that device. Break the habit of constant news feed reading. Get off the 'net. Some peeps continually batter the senses with the gory details of every accident & outrageous tragedy in the world. A politician's every social media post? Every dismal statistic/horror story on BCO? Every horrific image of war? One of the most common triggers for stress in a recent survey came back as constant news consumption. I'm not suggesting anyone put their head in the sand, but unplug daily and pick up a book, play the piano, pluck your eyebrows….make time for something that has absolutely nothing to do with negative media. Your psyche will thank you.
- CHANGE YOUR PERSPECTIVE OF STRESS: One recent study suggests that although high amounts of stress increase the risk of dying, it does so only in individuals who perceive stress to be harmful. In people who don't see stress as a health threat, stress does not appear to increase mortality. Our stress response is preparing you to do battle, to act, to perform. So how you view and verbalize stress can make a big difference in your daily existence. Exercising a 'mind over matter' mantra as much as possible. I imagine this will take practice, won't always be do-able,but worth a try if you can fit this more positive stress perspective into your life. Lastly, stop saying 'oh I'm so stressed' out loud as often....you're confirming it to the deep recesses of your brain.
- TAKE LUNCH, NO REALLY TAKE LUNCH!: Lunch around the world has become this: people scuttle off to buy food, heat their food, rush back to the desk, or even wolf it down while working through lunch. According to a new study, taking an actual lunch break outdoors that includes a short walk or a 15-minute relaxation exercise session reduces workplace stress, improves fatigue, and increases well-being. I am a staunch 'luncher' now. I work hard but don't need to give my soul to it. Its MY time! It's truly made a diff in my day.
- LIVE & LOVE YOUR FULL PERSONALITY: Know yourself and embrace it. Live comfortable in your own skin…you count! Whether it's following your passion, your introversion/extroversion, your personal values, or other identity-based facets, living who you are fully and authentically matters in the grand scheme of thing. Feeling like you have to fake a different personality (in order to be accepted or popular)throughout your day will suck the joy out of life. Obviously there are boundaries. Don't wear jammies to work, nor tell Suzie that she's an annoying putz, but be yourself, it has health benefits.
- SHOCK THERAPY : Step outside into the bracing cold. Splash cold water on your face or hop in a cold shower. Do as many bodyweight squats and pushups as you can manage. Drop and give me 20 burpees! These acts shock you into focusing on the present moment. They take you out of your mind and away from whatever stress might be currently occupying it. You can't ignore cold water on your skin. The stress may still be there after the shock, but having that break can give you a foothold back in reality, and perhaps coping.

Feel free to use anything I provide, Egads. We're all in this together!
Your daily post was great & I am already following many of your suggestions. I'm fortunate, though, since I'm probably less in need of your anti-stress advice than most people. DH & I are both retired, happy & healthy (except for the aches typical at our age & my cancer last year). My DS, his wife & 2 adorable daughters live close enough that we see them any time the mood strikes. We also travel a lot to see distant friends & our other children & grandchildren. I can't imagine that life could be much better!
BTW Ingerp, I loved the pics you posted of your dogs. If you had a couple cats in the photo it could have been a cover for one of Rita Mae Brown's books! (What a lovely location - it looks like I've always imagined Crozet!)
-
Great tips Egads! I’m a hippy dippy chick ✌🏻🌸 so I’m always interested in learning more of, pursuing a better, mind/body connection. Lately it have felt that having my tumor removed really did create a noticeable shift in me. I think my hormones were definitely unbalanced and I wish I would have put more attention towards myself and how I was feeling. But that’s the past, I’ve learned from it, and moving forward I now know myself better so I commit to taking better care of my whole self!!
I downloaded the Gaia app, and today decided to join. I did a morning yoga video and it was a perfect way to start the day. I’m going to work towards making it my morning ritual. There’s also lots of great videos and info about everything from healing energy to yoga to gratitude and much more
I also juiced today- carrot, beet, celery, wheat grass, apple, and lemon, topped with nutmeg. Crazy as it sounds, it was delicious!
Wishing everyone some peace and calmness today ❤️
-
JKL—I’m between Charlottesville and Crozet (a little area called Ivy) but still technically Cville. A good friend typed all of Rita Mae’s manuscripts
-
Ingerp, that is so cool! I love her books & I'm totally convinced that animals are that smart & that they could run the world if they had any interest in doing it!
-
Aren't we all just animals at the end of the day? I know for a fact that my ex husband is
)))
JKL - excellent! Living life on the hippy dippy side makes it so much more pleasant doesn't it? That said, this is the second time today I've made a disparaging remark about my ex husband. Karma must be sharpening its teeth and sizing up my derrière.
)) (waiting for Ingerp to say 'well it's a big enough target!!)
Warrior the Paleo Unicorn - another hippy dippy...this is good. Still towing the clean week line? I'm holding steady. I checked out Gaia, nifty app! Starting the day this way is perfect...sets the calm in early...mind body and soul, good for you! I feel that cancer changed me too. I didn’t lose myself, just changed and I spent a few years chasing after the old me....only to constantly set myself up for an unfulfilled emptiness. A good mental smack upside my head and a monumental effort to accept and embrace the new me finally brought peace. And a bruised head:))) so keep up the good work...it shows positive results that are visible in your writing, shines through.
Ingerp - hiya sunshine!tomorrow is 6? Hope you're feeling more energy than you were.
-
Hello Egads! Thanks for the wave! I'm feeling much better as that miserable cold has cleared up and I've been able to resume my exercise program. Had a great lunch today that was decidedly not Paleo with all the beans hiding in the Tikka Masala and the pine nuts. I'll just embrace the "Blue Zone" today.
-
I have been squeaky clean all week. I really want to keep it up a couple of weeks and see where I land, weight wise. If it goes well, I'll be more encouraged to continue with the 100% thing.
After cancer, I don't think I handle stress as well. Smaller things cause me a lot of stress and anxiety now. So I struggle in this category, but completely agree on lunches, exercise, music, nature, forest bathing. I put on youtube meditations before I go to sleep at night.
Yum, that coconut cream ice cream sounds really good. Might want to try that. I'm thinking banana mango! And Pi-xi, that salad looks pretty darn good and healthy.
-
😘😘😘😘😘 Still towing the clean week line! Made cauliflower “steaks” and salad for dinner. With steak seasoning and all! My go to snack this week has been green apple with no sugar no salt almond butter and some dark chocolate chips. I found vegan chocolate chips that are 70% cocoa. Pretty good!
-
PiXi that salad looks almost too pretty to eat!!
-
Pixi - I ditto our Paleo Unicorn...that salad pic should be on the wall of a gallery!! I know what'sfor din-din tomorrow....Tikka masala! Paleo style...your salad got me craving lol btw, pine nuts are paleo, beans, well, you know they're out for me, no prob. Still, gotta luv Indian food no matter what regime! Glad to read your cold has cleared...the worst in the summer.
TwoH - *high 5* on squeaky clean! Keep us posted on any weight changes....I'm sure you will see results. As for stress, oh yeah, cancer makes you stronger in a lot of ways, but the mental residue can make coping a difficult job. You've taken 2 hits, it's got to have made stressing that much more difficult for you to cope with! Your coping methods are solid though and I hope they bring you peace. Of all the methods listed, I think 'accepting stress as non threatening' to be key...but admit that staying that line is a tough one for me. Uphill battle.
Warrior TPU - cauliflower steaks! I've yet to try those...but will now, sound yummy! Hope you took a pic! Post for foodie Friday if you can, snack as well! You're towing the clean line with class girlfriend and rockin' it!! WTG!! *high 5*
Inna (godda davida, I never get tired of that, bet you do
)) You win the prize! I saw your reply and it made me (and my caveman) LOL. Your Paleo Princess Crown and cricket sceptor will be delivered tomorrow, it's yours for the weekend!
Vamp - if you’re reading...hugs n’ luv. We’re thinking of you
-
Egads--not feeling too sunny. #9 today (hooray!!), but I was up at work Wed/Thu this week (long story--I pretty much work full-time from home because my office is up in NoVa--about three hours away--so I only go in when I absolutely have to, which I did) and I am B-E-A-T. Actually slept later than hubs this morning and I cannot tell you the last time that happened. I mean it's been years. After today only three left. I. Cannot. Wait.
-
Egads, can’t wait for my crown! It will look great on my bald head. AC #4 is in 3 hours. Freaking out a little... need to eat some carbs..
