Cancer follows no rules

Hi.  Saw the surgeon today and I'm in for outpt. surgery in a few days.

Surgeon said I'm an unusual case.  I have a growth on my thigh that was positive for breast cancer that will be taken out.  That one was biopsied and results took a whole month.  However they can't find any breast cancer im my breast on mammo, Chest xray,  MRI, or PET scan.  He said it could be that I had a very small lump that spread a while ago by blood and was dissolved by my immune system.  However the breast cancer cells entered my blood and spread to my bones, and one growth on my thigh.

I have widespread Bone cancer spread from my clavicle to my sacrum but from 1-5 in metabolic activity it's all about 1.8 to 2.5, normal activity would be 1-2-ish.

It was spread by blood not lymph nodes.  So they are doing biopsies of the breast and removing the growth on my thigh.

Then I'll take pills that cut off the estrogen and progesterone from the cancer, a pill for stronger bones, and a pill to shrink cancer that's there.

So all this info provided by the oncologist and surgeon and tests was not at all what I expected or could possibly have found a similar scenario for.

The "breast cancer" in my bones is +estrogen and +progesterone receptors which means that cutting off the supply of those hormones to the cancer cells helps them die.

What I also found interesting is that I have a somewhat active pimple on my sternum area chest.  Just a normal large zit that gets the puss squeezed out of it.  That showed up on my PET scan as being an increased metabolic lump.  (Mimicking what a cancer lump would do on a PET scan.)

Waiting for results is absolutely horrible .  No one could tell me not to worry or it won't be that bad.  I think my greatest support was from those who kept telling me "you can beat this.  Don't let it win".  "you're a strong person".

When you first posted I really hoped it would turn out otherwise. I'm glad you finally know more & have a plan in place. There are a handful of other folks here who have occult breast cancer if you search occult. I'll bet you are the only one who presented with a skin lesion on their thigh though

Thanks Melissa.  I'm still very lucky compared to the horrible thoughts I had all week!  Waiting is awful!
