Gardening, anyone?

My youngest grandson came to play last night while we were outside walking I snapped a few pictures.

My Rose of Sharon. This was planted 3 years ago from a small sprout that just popped up in our yard. It's happy in this location!

A Hydrangea planted 4 years ago.

Lace leaf Maple and a few Hosta. (Plus a little cutie with a flash light)

Kiki, We have our feeder between a couple of trees (one almost bush-like) so the little ones can hide if predators show up. Same with the bird bath. We do have hawks, falcons and eagles around here, so the little guys have to be careful. They are fun to watch. Sparrows crowd around the feeder and fuss about who gets to eat while chicadees wait turns politely.

This is the rose bush at the end of our driveway.

Warrior- peppers already? I’m jealous, most of my pepper plants are struggling this year.

I harvested my first zucchini of the season today! I should have some squash ready in a few more days.

I’ll try to get some pics of my lilies this weekend to post.

Scottie- those Are beautiful hydrangeas!

I bought these last week for a steal, we don’t usually have pink here, so I doubt they’ll stay pink. Now I just have to find a good spot for them

There's nothing for scale in these pics, but that big zucchini plant is almost to my hip. The tomatoes are to my chest. You can see squash hiding in the second box. Unfortunately, that zucchini shouldn't be there. It was a case of mistaken identity, planted it with the cukes, which you can't even see behind it! Each of these boxes is roughly 12 x 3 feet, made from old deck wood.

Peachy, Hydrangeas change color depending on the acidity of the soil. You can add things to make it more acid or alkaline and control the color. I love that pink. I hope you can keep it that way.

Scottie, you have one of my favorites, butterfly bush. The orange flowers I posted awhile back are Asiatic lilies. You can buy the bulbs, or you might see them sold at Easter. If you buy them at a flower stand, just plant them in your garden when they finish blooming and they'll do fine.

Today we had to put screening over our blueberries, as the birds, squirrels, and chipmunks are getting very interested in them. Looks funny but it works:

Was checking my veggie garden this morning to see that I have cukes growing

Wow Dodgersgirl! What a year for zucchini and squash and pumpkins! Maybe that’s what’s wrong with my peppers, I didn’t know that. I always assumed peppers liked heat, guess not.

My one misplaced zucchini is shading the cukes near it. The others are planted in a separate area of the yard because I know they need the room!

I have already harvested squash and zucchini several times. Mine are usually all dead by the time other family members are harvesting theirs, not sure why, but it works out ok.
