Pre-op test problems, more stress and worry

A simple pre-op physical with bloodwork this morning turned into a referral to a cardiologist because of an abnormal looking ekg. The cardiologist wants me to do a stress test and to top it off, heard some fluid in the bottom of one lung so sent me for a chest xray. Im really stressing out and scared that i now have more things wrong with me. I dont want my surgery to be delayed either. Sorry, it helps some to vent. 🤗

So sorry Cindy. Not to sound flippant but when it rains it pours. No worries about venting. That’s what we are all here for. We completely understand how you feel.

I’m sure you are worried about the EKG. Did your doctor say what he suspected? I had one once and passed it with flying colors and I was sure something was wrong so it doesn't always mean something dire.

I’m no doctor but I’ve been told fluid in the lung could be pneumonia or allergy related. I had a chest X-ray and the PA freaked out and said I had all these lung nodules. She said it could be scar tissue or something else because one of my lungs wasn’t totally clear. She wanted me to go back to the cancer center the next day. I chose to wait for the radiologist’s report. The next day the radiologist determined the x-Ray was normal and no cause for concern so you never know.

I know you want the surgery to be over and done with and I don’t blame you. Hopefully this is just a bump in the road.

Try and stay busy if you can. Keep the faith and keep us posted.

Thank you Diane. Im hoping my EKG was abnormal because of my nerves. The whole thing just threw me for a loop because i was just expecting to get through the pre-op with no problems, with the worse behind me.

hi Cindymb- same thing happened to me. EKG showed a left bundle branch block that wasn’t there 9 months prior. Sent me for nuclear stress test and report was good with low risk. Always better to have the additional testing to determine if it’s something mild/benign or something more serious that could cause problems during surgery. Have you had an EKG before?
