2 weeks ago I found a very small lump in my nipple. Went to the Dr last week and was sent for mammogram and ultrasound. My yearly mammogram in February was negative. Had my 2ndmammogram and ultrasound Thursday and my dr called yesterday and told me they couldn’t see anything on the mammogram but on ultrasound it showed a small solid mass in the nipple. Surgical consult was recommended and is being set up for me. So worried and anxious yet don’t want to lose it until I really know what I’m dealing with. I have a very supportive husband and family but I guess I just needed some support from those who have been there. Any advice and encouragement appreciated. Thanks.

    Kandcmom,

The next step is to find out if you have something to worry about. Do your best to not worry yet. It could be nothing. It might be something but honestly, worrying between now and knowing will not change the outcome. Stay off Dr Google. Go out to dinner, take a walk, do something fun.

Hang in there. It is tough but just like the OP suggested, get out, do something, walk..anything to keep yourself busy while you wait. Could be nothing , so try to think of it as just that. Until it's proven to be something, it's nothing.

Thanks for the encouragement. I did ask my Dr the BIRAD score and my ultrasound said said birad 4. Is that more concerning or still in the unknown area?

BIRADS 4 means 20-35% chance that malignancy will be found, or in other, happier, words, 65-80% chance that it's benign.

Hang in there. Do you have your biopsy scheduled yet?

Yes. I see the surgeon next Thursday and my dr thought he could biopsy it in the office. It is very small and superficial, right in the nipple. No other abnormalities seen on mammogram or ultrasound.
