Trying to stay calm
Hi everyone, this is my first post here. After "lurking" around a bit I am so grateful to have found this forum.
I had an annual mammogram which resulting in a stereo tactic biopsy, which ended me up with a DCIS diagnosis. I decided to go to another (better) hospital for treatment. After reviewing all my records the doctor wanted to do an MRI. The results of that yesterday have me now going for another needle biopsy today and there was a little talk of an unusual lymph node. The spot the MRI picked up is different than the DCIS and was in a place that no mammogram would have detected, nearly in my armpit.
I go this afternoon for the biopsy and I'm freaking out. I had just wrapped my head around DCIS and now this?
I'm wondering how often these things happen? I feel like I've jumped down a rabbit hole and one thing keeps leading to another. When does it stop?

Stay calm. MRIs have a high false positive rate--they are so sensitive. Wait until you have more information. Then you can take another breath and see what (if anything) comes next.

Thank you for your reply, Ingerp. I've been reading a lot but I guess I won't have answers until I have them
The waiting has been really difficult, but it seems like I'm really lucky and blessed that they are doing these things right away and I don't have to wait long for appointments.

I had the same happen. I got a last minute call for yet another MRI as something vague was seen during one of the many US. The MRI included biopsy, and it turned out to be nothing. The in between waiting was horrible, and the tests just kept on coming, all with long wait times. As you said I felt blessed that they were being extra vigilant, better to know, but the wait....yeah that sucks. As Ingerp said, try to stay calm and not panic until there is something to worry about. This process sure does let you know what you're made of.....strong stuff. Sending positives your way for a clear MRI, keep us posted!

Got my results today, I have IDC and DCIS. The preliminary results of the node biopsy are negative so that is good. I also got my gene test results and that was positive for breast cancer and colon cancer. I'm waiting now for the hormone receptor info and a stage. The prognosis is good though. It's weird, but I feel so much relief! Now I know what I am dealing with and I'm ready to take it on and do what needs to be done!

It feels so good to have a plan! Sending good vibes to you, adgnola! (I used to live in NOLA--I miss it so!)

adgnola,
Yes it does feel better the more info we receive and once a plan is in place. We will get through this!
Once your surgery is scheduled, if its in July, come over to the July Surgery thread.
Prayers for you, Cindy 🤗

Dang! I was so hoping you'd have good news. Well, at least you didn't have to wait until Monday. Most of us felt better once we knew what we were dealing with. It's the waiting and not knowing that's terrible, IMO
