Hello all 🤗

After my surgery, what will they be looking at from my biopsy in order to make treatment recommendations? The tumor grade? Positive lymph nodes? So far i have been told i will need radiation and a medication to block estrogen.

Thanks

The biopsy will tell you a lot more about your tumor characteristics--whether it's hormone receptor +/-, and HER2+/-. Final stage isn't available until after the surgery, to find out if there is any lymph node involvement. All that together will suggest a course of treatment. (The medication indicates you are ER and/or PR positive.)

I was told that I'm ER+. I wasnt given a grade though. Lymph node involvement is what will indicate whether chemo is needed or not?

Not exactly. Chemo is recommended for many patients with no lymph node involvement. It helps me to look at people's signatures to see exactly what their dx and tx is. You'll see what is typical for a particular diagnosis.
